Deutsche Gesellschaft for Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GrnbH invites applications from suitable and qualified professionals for the Inclusive Development of the Economy (INCLUDE) Programme. INCLUDE Programme is a joint Nepal•German Programme under the guidance of the Ministry of Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation (MoCPA). Government of Nepaiwith Technical Assistance by the GIZ, commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (WIZ).

The overall objective of the Programme is: “The growth and inclusiveness of selected value chains and responsible businesses in the focus districts have increased”. Four output areas set are: implementation of strategies for inclusive growth in the selected value chains: improvement in the conditions of services offered to the target group in the selected value chains. improvement in the market access of people from the target group; and implementation of innovative business models to promote economic, inclusive/social and environmental change.

Position: Programme Officer Capacity Development, Public Partners

Duty station: Kathmandu

Responsibilities: The Programme Officer, under the overall supervision of the Deputy Chief Technical Advisor, is responsible for:

  • Support for the implementation of output A, which is mainly related to implementation of selected prioritized peas of the action plan for inclusive growth in the selected value chains
  • Technical assistance to the public partners in the implementation at selected activities of the cooperative action planas well as addressing value chain related issues in the public-private cooperative consultations at districts
  • Support for the preparation and implementation of the Capacity Development plan of the Lead Ministry
  • Identification of possible Human Capacity Development (HCD) measures and support partner for potential third-party funding for the implementation of HOD measures in the field of cooperatives
  • Maintaining contacts with public partners at working level * Close coordination with relevant actors of cooperative sector at different levels for ensuring their linkages for necessary service provision
  • Support for preparation of project steering committee meetings

Required Qualification and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Management, Business Studies or Public Administration. Master’s degree is preferred
  • Experience of three to five years in a similar position.Experience of working with government organisation would be an added advantage
  • Good relations with local partner institutions in the public and cooperative sectors
  • Good knowledge of Cooperative sector nationally and internationally
  • Ability to analyze complex contexts and to process them in a targeted manner
  • Ability to work independently and with a solution oriented attitude
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Good negotiation skill and a good team player * Very good communication skills in English and Nepali (both written and verbal)
  • Proficiency in using MS Office package
