Duties

BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION: As the Mission’s Airport Expeditor/ Shipping Clerk, the incumbent is responsible for providing expeditor services to all incoming and outgoing official visitors as well as all U.S. Mission personnel and their families under Chief of Mission authority. As Shipping Clerk, the incumbent prepares official correspondence between the U.S. Mission, Kathmandu and the Government of Nepal (GON) for the registration of U.S. Mission vehicles and obtaining vehicle number plates and driver’s licenses. Under the supervision of Customs and Shipment Supervisor, the incumbent assists in preparing customs clearance documents for incoming and outgoing shipments and provides support for the customs clearance when needed.

Qualifications and Evaluations

Requirements:

EXPERIENCE: Two years of professional experience in the field of Customs and Airport expediting or in an administrative or clerical field working with foreign missions/international agencies is required.

Education Requirements:

EDUCATION: Secondary school education is required.

Evaluations:

LANGUAGE: Level III (Good working knowledge) speaking/reading/writing English is required. Level III (Good working knowledge) speaking/reading/writing Nepali is required. English Language ability will be tested.

JOB KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge of host national regulations pertaining to vehicle registration, driver’s licensing, and immigration regulations is required.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES: A valid Nepalese driver’s Class B license for light vehicle is required. Ability to use Windows-based computer applications is required.

Qualifications:

All applicants under consideration will be required to pass medical and security certifications and complete a mandatory probationary period for LE Staff.
