Plan International Nepal invites application from interested and eligible candidates for the following positions:

Position Title: Education Program Coordinator

Purpose: The position holder is responsible for planning and implementation of the education programs and projects in the working districts. S/he will provide support in the aspects of technical, administrative and management for education projects being implemented through partners and community organizations in the districts. S/he will be accountable for the quality implementation of the above in alignment with Plan’s global strategies/standards and CCCD principles. S/he is accountable for implementing the innovation and ensuring lessons learnt are constantly integrated in program interventions, thus continuously improving efficiency and effectiveness.

Term and Location: Fixed term employment for 3 years based in Field Office-Mid-Western Hills Office, Jumla.

Required Qualifications & Experiences:

• Master’s degree in social science, preferably in the field of education
• At least 4 years demonstrated experience in the field of education project implementation
• Proven experience of managing team, budgets and other management domains
• INGO work experience preferred
• Analytical, strategic thinking and negotiating skills
• Ability to build effective relations for influencing
• Excellent organisation and prioritisation skills
• Good command of English and Nepali language
• Excellent verbal communication skills
• Creative thinking and problem solving skills
• Proven IT skills: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint etc
• Ability to prioritise and multitask work when dealing with competing deadlines, sometimes with limited resources
• Comprehensive understanding of the socio/political economic and cultural issues of Nepal
• Advanced knowledge and experience of International and National Education program, project and policies
• Experience of development and humanitarian issues affecting children, women and families
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience in successfully using key influencing strategies such as advocacy, lobbying, movement building, or policy development
• Strong knowledge of child and women’s rights and gender justice
• Advanced understanding of the development and NGO sector.

Key Responsibilities:

• Proactively work with program team to develop concept notes in coordination with line manager and Business Development Team to support proposal design at country level
• Support to define sectoral program strategy and contributing plan’s Country Strategy so as to develop technical cooperation projects for the Area office
• Ensure that the Education program is gender transformative
• Ensure that the Education program builds on and generates evidence to inform Plan’s influencing agenda
• Ensure effective program partnerships in Education including meaningful participation and efficient use of resources to meet the program objectives and outcomes set out in the Country Strategy
• Provide technical support in design and development of inclusive and quality education strategy to Municipalities/Rural Municipalities.
• Ensure effective project monitoring by taking necessary corrective actions that are being followed up and reviewed periodically
• Ensure that Plan’s contractual obligations with partners on project targets and deliverables are met by implementation partners
• Make regular program reviews and provide feedback to the Field office program team and report to line manager
• Ensure that periodic quantitative and qualitative report has been submitted on time to BusinessDevelopment team for their submission to National Office/ Donor
• Assess the partner’s capacity in terms of technical skills for project delivery, design a training plan to enhance their capacity and monitor it regularly in coordination with line manager and AM.
• Develop and adopt training manuals and guidelines for the use of program in line with Nepal government program and policy for effective implementation of education program.
• Support organizing training for partner organization on education as per agreed plan and provide necessary technical support for quality assurance
• Work closely with Field office program team and partners to achieve program quality as per Program Quality Policy
• Lead to develop district and community level campaigns in local context in line with priority national campaigns
• Lead sectoral networking and representation and build relationships and alliances with relevant networks, government bodies, federations and other agencies
• Lead evidence-based lobby and advocacy within the sectoral program at Area Office level and ensure that programme plans include influencing objectives
• Lead Education program/team at Field office level
