The American Embassy in Kathmandu is seeking an individual for the position of Public Affairs Assistant.

POSITION: Public Affairs Assistant, FSN – 9; FP-5

OPENING DATE: March 16, 2018

WORK HOURS: Full-time; 40 hours/week

BASIC FUNCTION OF THE POSITION

Under the direct supervision of Public Affairs Officer, the incumbent serves as an expert on Public Affairs Section’s budget and program administration. The incumbent provides advice on annual budget including representational and grants expenditure. The incumbent analyzes the effects and consequences of such expenditures on program planning. The incumbent serves as a Grant Officer Representative (GOR) and develops strategies to monitor and evaluate grants expenditures. The incumbent also advises and assists in the financial management of American Spaces established outside of Kathmandu.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

1. EDUCATION: Completion of Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management or Accounting is required

2. EXPERIENCE: A minimum of three years of experience in business management, accounting or an administrative field is required.

3. LANGUAGE: Level IV (fluent) Speaking/Reading/Writing English is required. Level IV (fluent) Speaking/Reading/Writing Nepali is required. English language ability will be tested.

4. KNOWLEDGE: Sound knowledge of financial management and/or accounting/budgeting procedures is required. Excellent knowledge of the social environment of country and its institutions is required.

5. SKILLS AND ABILITIES: The ability to use various computer applications such as MS Word, MS Outlook, Power Point and Excel is required.
