102 were brought to Nepal from Indian quarantine, 340 being returned

Nepalese in Indian quarantine have been repatriated. Though preparations were made to bring 125 people to Nepal on Friday, only 102 people have entered Nepal due to time consuming health check-up.

After 4 pm, Indian authorities began handing over the quarantined Nepalis to the Government of Nepal in Belahiya. Chief District Officer of Rupandehi, Mahadev Pantha, said that 102 Nepalis were allowed in Nepalfrom Belahiya by the evening. There were about 340 Nepalese in India’s quarantine and preparations were underway to bring 125 of them in the first phase. Of the 102 who arrived on Friday, the rest will be brought on Saturday.

Chief District Officer Pantha said that all Nepali living in quarantine will be brought in three phases. State Assembly member Santosh Pandey had also reached Belahiya to pick up the Nepalese

After completing the three-week quarantine stay, they were brought to Nepal after a health check-up. Pandey said that those who tested negative will be sent home and those who tested positive will be sent to isolation.

India had placed Nepalis in quarantine at three different places in schools and colleges in Nautanwa and Sunauli. Rupandehi Police Chief Superintendent of Police Hem Thapa said that the condition of Nepalis in quarantine was normal. The Indian quarantine includes citizens of 18 districts including Rupandehi, Arghakhanchi, Palpa, Chitwan, Tanahu, Bara and Kapilvastu.
