National Federation of the Deaf Nepal (NDFN) is an umbrella organization of, by and for the Deaf People in Nepal. NDFN was established in 1995 by the joint effort and collaboration of the 8 local deaf associations and formally registered as non- governmental organization in District Administration Office, Kathmandu and Social Welfare Council. Currently NDFN is having 44 district deaf associations affiliated.
The purpose of formation of NDFN was to strengthen the deaf rights movement in Nepal by advocating deaf friendly law and policies and collaborating with possible stakeholders, raising awareness, developing and disseminating Nepali Sign Language, formation, capacity building of local deaf associations, interpreter service, communication, employment and many more. Access to information, quality education for deaf child in their preferred language, removing barrier in Communication, job and employment opportunities and others are core issues and activities of NDFN.
NDFN is working in close collaboration with the organization of person with deafblindness, parent organization and organization of person of visually impaired to promote the rights of persons with deafblindness in Nepal. NDFN is currently implementing Deafblind project in Nepal and scaling up in year 2019. The scaling up the project, NDFN is seeking the potential candidates for the position of:

Job Specification
• Bachelor degree with at least 2 years of work experience in related field (Master degree with at least 1-year experience will also be considered)
• Good Understanding on Disability-related National (disability right act inclusive education policy, Health policies) and International laws and policies (UNCRPD, SDG)
• Familiar with current socio-political context and change process
• Excellent Excel skills and MS package
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in both English and Nepali language
• Prior experience working in with organization of persons with Disabilities will be an advantage
• Preference would be given to candidates with ability to communicate in Nepali Sign language and other forms of communication like braille, tactile communication etc
• Respect to the diversity in particular to the poor marginalized, vulnerable and disability population
Job Description
• An Advocacy Officer will work in close coordination with the Project Manager and the Board to Plan and execute various advocacy works in Local/ Provincial and Federal Level
• Work to develop central level unified advocacy plan on deafblindness and local and province level plan for the partners to implement on local and province level
• Liaison between the partner’s organization and project coordinators on to ensure the implementation of the advocacy activities in line with the advocacy plan
• Establish networks with different Government agencies in central, province and local level and civil society organizations, NGOs and DPOs working in health and education sector to advocate on Deafblindness inclusion
• Provide necessary guidance, form, and formats for the project coordinators to implement the advocacy activities in line with advocacy plan
• Monitoring and evaluation of the advocacy activities at the local level and coordinate the advocacy on the center level
• Ensure the advocacy work are properly documented and reported on time
• Support to the Coordinator and Manager to develop training materials, orientation and sensitization program and Media mobilization
