Samaanta Foundation is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing comprehensive higher education Fellowships to meritorious students from underserved communities in Nepal. We provide a fully residential program that includes language and computer training, civic engagement and leadership workshops, mentorship, and other forms of support, including a monthly stipend, to ensure that our Fellows not only participate but succeed in the system.

Samaanta Foundation is in its 15th year of operation, and we have now grown to support 140 Fellows over this period.

As we strengthen our model and expand our Fellowship in the coming years, we are looking to hire a driven,passionate, hardworking, and self-sufficient Partnerships and Communications Officer to help grow and strengthen the organisation further. We are a values-driven organization and we are looking for a leader with a continuous learning and improving mindset to join us.

The Partnerships and Communications Officer (PCO) will be a full-time employee of Samaanta Foundation, reporting to the Foundation’s Director of Programs. This is a full-time position, with a probation period of three months, and regular reviews thereafter.

The key roles and responsibilities of the PCO are listed below, but these are meant to be illustrative rather than exhaustive. The organisation reserves the right to add or change these roles and responsibilities as needed.

Manage external communications with all partners

Oversee the maintenance of digital communication platforms, including the website and our social media

Manage existing partnerships and establish new ones with stakeholders in education, public sector, development agencies, and corporate sectors to promote Samaanta

Develop funding proposals and pursue fundraising activities at the national and international levels

Design, develop, and deliver a communications strategy

Prepare quarterly and bi-annual reports for funders and partners

Strengthen the mentorship program, including by identifying new mentors and keeping track of mentorship relationships

Strengthen the internship program, including managing international volunteers

Support Fellowship experience planning and development, including mentoring different teams and action communities of Fellows

Lead other activities and strategic priorities as needed, on the advice of the Board of Directors

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree preferred

At least two years of experience in a similar area of work

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision on multiple assignments simultaneously, with adequate attention to detail

Ability to work flexibly in an iterative manner

Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills in Nepali and English

Experience of working with and mentoring young people desirable

Competence with design and presentation skills

Location

Thapagaun,Kathmandu, with occasional travel outside the capital city

Salary: NPR 40,000 - 50,000 per month, with some room for negotiation commensurate with qualifications and experience
