Job Description
About the Role
Dataweav is hiring a Data Engineer to own and scale our automated data collection systems. You'll take full workflows end-to-end: designing extraction logic, hardening pipelines against site changes, normalizing data into clean schemas, and keeping QA tight across the board. You'll also help level up our interns and set the standard for how we build.
This is an AI-first team. We use Claude Code and AI assistants daily as core development tools. We move fast, and we expect you to own your work.
Type
Full-Time
Location
Nepal (remote)
Experience: 1-2 years building data extraction pipelines, frontend development, or backend development
Background
Computer Science or equivalent hands-on experience
What You'll Do
- Design and build data collection workflows using Python, Playwright, and HTTP APIs
- Own complex and high-value pipelines end to end, from first request to QA sign-off
- Reverse-engineer site behavior: read network traffic, replicate API calls, handle auth, pagination, and anti-bot measures
- Diagnose and fix failures fast: failed requests, structural changes, rate limits, missing or corrupted data
- Design and maintain standardized data schemas with validation
- Build and improve QA checks that catch regressions before they ship
- Support and mentor interns through code review and technical guidance
- Use AI-assisted development (Claude Code) as a core part of your daily workflow
What We're Looking For
- At least 1-2 years of hands-on experience in data extraction, web scraping, frontend development, or backend development
- Strong proficiency in Python
- Solid understanding of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and how browsers work under the hood
- Confident reading network traffic in browser DevTools: inspecting requests, reading responses, understanding HTTP headers, cookies, and auth flows
- Experience keeping pipelines reliable at scale, not just writing one-off scripts
- Self-directed, takes ownership, and communicates clearly in English (written)
- Comfortable using Claude Code as an AI coding assistant
Nice to Have
- Experience with Playwright, BeautifulSoup, or lxml
- Experience with Git, SQLite, Pydantic, and pytest
- Familiarity with proxies, captcha handling, or anti-bot evasion
- Experience mentoring junior engineers or reviewing code
- Hands-on experience with Playwright, BeautifulSoup, or lxml
- Comfortable with Git and writing tests (pytest)
Work Hours
Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week, standard Nepal work hours. You must be available to overlap with our HQ team for 1-2 hours daily in the evening for communication.
This is an AI-first team. You will use Claude Code at work from day one. Candidates who are already comfortable with it will have a strong advantage.
