Job Description
Department of Community Programs, Dhulikhel Hospital, Kathmandu University Hospital invites applications from energetic, confident, hardworking and committed candidates to work in “Periodontal Disease and Small Vulnerable Newborns in Rural Nepal: A Community-based Cluster Randomized Trial”, as Dental Hygienist/Dental Assistant.

Qualification
Nepalese Citizen with PCL Dental Science/Dental Hygiene from recognized institution.
Preference will be given to those who have prior experience in health research and field work.
Required Competencies
Experience in data collection, coordination and familiar to the dental related data collection application.
Excellent communication skills in Nepali (verbal and written) and Maithili (preferred).
Must be willing to work in field site based in Sarlahi for at least a year.
Strong communication skills, ability to work in a rural field setting, work as a research team, and a high level of ethics regarding participant confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities
Participate in clinical and data collection training, which could occur in Dhulikhel, Kathmandu, and Sarlahi offices.
Perform clinical periodontal examinations on study participants (pregnant women) as per the study protocol. Assess and record periodontal indices (e.g., pocket depth, clinical attachment loss, gingival inflammation).
Collect oral plaque and gingival crevicular fluid as per study protocol in a sub-set of study participants.
Maintaining accurate, detailed records of all clinical findings.
Providing basic counselling and follow-up services as required.
Perform other project-related activities as needed.
Manage dental supplies and inventory required for data collection.
Collaborate with the broader study field team to ensure dental assessments are integrated smoothly into the overall study workflow.
