The Federation of Women with Disability Nepal (FWDN) is a national umbrella organization led by women with disabilities working to promote the rights, dignity, equality, participation, leadership and empowerment of women and girls with disabilities in Nepal.
FWDN works to strengthen the meaningful participation of women and persons with disabilities in decision-making processes and to promote inclusive policies, programs and practices at federal, provincial and local levels. FWDN advocates for the implementation of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) and relevant national laws and policies, with particular attention to gender equality, political participation, accessibility, representation and social inclusion.
FWDN is seeking a qualified, motivated and committed Gender Equality, Disability and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) Officer to support its work on disability participation and representation, political rights, gender equality and inclusive governance.
Federation of Women with Disability Nepal (FWDN), in partnership with CBM Global Disability Inclusion and CBM Ireland, and the National Federation of the Disabled Nepal (NFDN), is implementing the EU-funded SAMAVESH (Supporting Active Measures Advancing Voices, Equality, Solidarity and Harmony) Project to promote meaningful political participation, representation, and leadership of persons with disabilities, particularly women, youth, and people from Underrepresented group and Indigenous communities.
The project strengthens the capacity, knowledge, skills, and confidence of persons with disabilities and civil society organizations on political and electoral processes, while generating evidence, strengthening OPD leadership, and promoting disability-inclusive and accessible political systems.
Through advocacy, capacity building, mentorship, community engagement, media, and policy dialogue, the project seeks to create an enabling environment for persons with disabilities to exercise their political rights and participate as voters, candidates, leaders, and decision-makers.
The GEDSI Officer will provide technical and programmatic support to ensure the meaningful and effective participation and representation of persons with disabilities, particularly those from the underrepresented groups in political and civic processes throughout the project.
The position will support advocacy, manage the day-to-day activities of the project & coordinate with different concerned stakeholders as well capacity building, research, policy engagement, stakeholder coordination, collaboration and monitoring to promote inclusive political participation, leadership and representation of persons with disabilities at federal, provincial and local levels.
The officer will also ensure that gender equality, disability inclusion, accessibility and intersectionality are mainstreamed across FWDN's programs and advocacy initiatives. Particularly focus on strengthening the meaningful participation, leadership, representation and decision-making of women and persons with disabilities in political and civic processes.
