Aasaman Nepal (ASN), a pioneer organization for education and nutrition, is one of the leading Terai based NGOs led and managed by social activists since its establishment in Dhanusha, Janakpur in 1999. ASN has been engaged in developing and implementing programs aimed at protection, promotion, and fulfillment of child rights in Nepal. Currently ASN has been working in 20 districts under 6 Thematic Areas as: Education/Child Protection, Women Empowerment, Livelihood/ Natural Resource Management, Disaster Risk Reduction, Health/ Nutrition and Good Governance.

Gallop for Good is an 18-month (August 2025–January 2027) community-based pilot initiative led by Aasaman Nepal, funded by The Donkey Sanctuary, UK, and implemented in partnership with AHTCS, PESWAN and Health Concern in Nalgad Municipality and Barekot Rural Municipality of Jajarkot District. The project responds to the interconnected challenges faced by mule-owning communities, where mules are an important source of household income, particularly for families transporting goods across difficult mountain terrain.

Mule health and welfare are closely linked with household livelihoods, child wellbeing and education, human health, hygiene and nutrition, environmental conditions, and resilience to climate and disaster risks. The project therefore follows an integrated One Welfare approach, recognizing that the wellbeing of animals, people and their shared environment is connected. Aasaman Nepal leads overall project management and coordination providing technical expertise wherever needed; AHTCS contributes veterinary, animal health, mule welfare and livelihood expertise; PESWAN contributes community development, environmental conservation, resilience and disaster risk reduction expertise; and Health Concern contributes human health, hygiene and nutrition expertise

Aasaman Nepal is seeking a practical, field-oriented and technically capable MEAL Coordinator to support the quality and effective implementation of Gallop for Good in Jajarkot.

Working with: Local Government, government officials, mule-owning communities, Technical Field Officers and consortium partners

The position combines MEAL, field coordination, data management, reporting, documentation, learning and veterinary technical support. Working under the guidance of the Project Manager, the Coordinator will work closely with Technical Field Officers and Consortium partners to ensure that activities are properly planned, implemented, monitored and documented.

The coordinator will use his/her veterinary knowledge to provide practical input on mule health, welfare, handling and husbandry and to understand how mule welfare connects with livelihoods, children, human health and nutrition, and the environment. The position will also ensure that field information is reliable, useful and translated into practical actions.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

This is a field-based position. The successful candidate must be willing to live and work in Jajarkot and travel regularly within Nalgad Municipality and Barekot Rural Municipality, including remote and geographically challenging locations.

Strong command of Nepali, English (verbal and written) and local language preferred/required.
