We tackle everything from e-waste and plastics to corporate recycling programs, making a difference every day across Kathmandu and Pokhara. E-waste is one of the fastest-growing and most complex parts of that mission, and it's where this role comes in.

Role Summary

We are looking for someone to lead the hands-on management of Doko's e-waste operations. You will oversee day-to-day operations and guide our e-waste team, ensuring every e-waste is properly assessed, repaired, or dismantled, and that our facility runs safely, efficiently, and in compliance with relevant standards. Apart from ground operations, E-waste manager is also responsible for exploring the business advancement opportunities within the e-waste domain, scaling the business into new locations, exploring global funding opportunities, exploring the potential for expanding e-waste recycling, among other areas.

This role suits someone who is as comfortable getting hands-on with electronics and electrical equipment as they are managing a team, and who can translate technical work into something a client or partner understands and trusts. The E-waste department is also a cross functional department working together with operations and clientele departments.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Collection, Assessment & Repair
  • Oversee and manage the collection, storage, and movement of E-waste.
  • Supervise the technical screening and assessment of collected E-waste to determine repair/refurbishment potential.
  • Ensure unsuccessful repairs/refurbishments are safely and correctly redirected for dismantling and material recovery.
  • Assign and conduct on-site technical assessments of IT assets for clients and internal projects.

2.Operations & Inventory Management

  • Own overall operations of the e-waste facility, ensuring it remains organized, safe, and efficient at all times.
  • Ensure standard-compliant handling and disposal of IT assets in line with environmental and safety regulations.
  • Ensure accurate and up-to-date inventory records for all E-waste collection, refurbishment, sales, and disposal activities.
  • Track, document, and prepare periodic reports on E-waste operations, including revenue sheets, process sheets, delivery notes, etc.

3.Team Leadership and Capacity Building

  • Lead, supervise, and mentor the E-waste team, setting performance expectations and providing technical direction.
  • Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement within the team.

4.Partnerships and Growth

  • Set and execute the strategy for sourcing E-waste, building a steady pipeline through corporate and institutional partnerships.
  • Lead technical discussions and coordination for E-waste partnerships with key stakeholders.
  • Acquire new clients and strengthen market linkages for both sourcing and destination of E-waste.
  • Explore the potential for setting up recycling operations for additional E-waste streams.
  • Identify and introduce new revenue verticals within the E-waste domain.

5.E-waste Project Development and Execution

  • Lead proposal writing and grant applications to secure funding for E-waste projects.
  • Plan, execute, and monitor projects related to E-waste, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and donor requirements.

6.Reporting & Compliance

  • Oversee the issuance of E-waste destruction and disposal reports and certifications.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental standards, organizational policies, and national E-waste regulations.

7.Stakeholder Engagement & Outreach

  • Represent the E-waste department during site tours, client visits, and external events.
  • Provide technical expertise to support outreach and business development initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electronics/Electrical Engineering or a closely related field
  • A Master's in Business Administration (MBA) or other business/management qualification in addition to the above degree is mandatory, given the role's blend of technical and client-facing responsibilities
  • Minimum of 7 years of total experience, including at least 4 years in a leadership role within electrical, electronics, or communication hardware operations, maintenance operations or related fields. Experience in e-waste management will have an added advantage.

Other Requirements

  • Strong working knowledge of electrical , electronic, IT asset assessment, repair, and refurbishment processes (laptops, desktops, peripherals, and related hardware).
  • Desired knowledge of e-waste and environmental compliance regulations.
  • Familiarity with inventory management systems and operational reporting (process sheets, revenue tracking, delivery documentation).
  • Proficiency in data and reporting tools (e.g., Excel or similar spreadsheet/inventory software).
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills across operations, scaling, and business development.
  • Strong client facing communication skills.
  • Ability to balance hands-on technical oversight with strategic/business priorities.
  • Willingness to travel for site visits and client engagements.
  • Proven track record of team management in a senior role
