Roster of Field Technicians for NWASH Data Collection and Verification

Sustainable WASH for All (SUSWA) is establishing a roster of skilled field technicians to support Local Governments in Karnali Province with the collection, verification and updating of information on SUSWA-supported water supply schemes in the national NWASH Management Information System (NWASH-MIS) and Municipal WASH Plans.

Main tasks

Selected technicians will be deployed to Local Governments according to field needs. Assignments may include:

Visiting newly constructed and repaired SUSWA-supported water supply schemes and collecting or verifying field information;

Identifying changes from approved designs, including taps, reservoirs and other structures added or removed during implementation;

Collecting photographs and information on intakes, reservoirs, pipelines and other relevant infrastructure;

Measuring and recording source discharge and collecting information on source stability and climate vulnerability;

Checking the condition and functionality of taps/water points and other water-supply infrastructure;

Collecting and verifying NWASH Inventory and NWASH Sustainability information;

Identifying SUSWA-supported schemes that are missing from, or cannot readily be matched with, the existing NWASH inventory;

Conducting consultations and meetings with WUSCs to verify scheme functionality, management and sustainability information; and

Coordinating closely with Local Government WASH Units, Service Support Centres (SSCs), WUSCs, the SUSWA NWASH team and other relevant technical personnel.

The information collected will be used to complete and update NWASH records for SUSWA-supported schemes. Expected outputs include verified infrastructure and tap information, photographs, source-discharge information, functionality status, identification of schemes missing from NWASH, and updated NWASH Inventory and Sustainability data.

Who should apply

Applicants should have

A Diploma in Civil Engineering or other relevant qualification;

At least 3 years of relevant experience in rural water supply/WASH;

Experience in field assessment, monitoring and technical data collection;

Preferably, practical experience with NWASH Inventory and NWASH Project Sustainability data collection or updating;

Good communication and coordination skills for working with Local Governments and WUSCs; and

Willingness and ability to travel and work in rural and remote areas of Karnali Province.

Roster and contracting arrangement

This call will establish a ranked roster of qualified technicians rather than recruit staff for one continuous assignment. Candidates will be assessed and ranked according to their qualifications and relevant technical experience. Short-term service contracts, normally ranging from one to eight weeks, will subsequently be offered from the roster based on the ranking of candidates and the field requirements of SUSWA, including the location, volume and timing of data collection required in individual Local Governments. Inclusion in the roster does not in itself guarantee an assignment.

Updated CV, highlighting experience in rural water supply systems, field/mobile data collection and, where applicable, previous experience with NWASH data collection or updating.
