1. Background

National Society for Earthquake Technology – Nepal (NSET) is a nonprofit, non-governmental organization working in the field of multi-hazard risk management. It implements and supports various programs and projects related to disaster risk reduction, earthquake safety, resilient construction, humanitarian response, community resilience, and other related areas.

NSET requires dedicated IT and information management support across its different projects, programs, and office operations. The IT Officer will provide organization-wide IT, database management, information management, and technical support and will be assigned to different projects and activities according to NSET’s requirements.

2. Purpose of the Position

The IT Officer will support NSET in managing and strengthening its information technology, database, information management, digital data collection, and data security systems across projects and programs. The position will also provide technical IT support to NSET’s office and project teams as required.

3. Key Responsibilities

Provide technical inputs for managing NSET servers, networks, website, software, licenses, and other IT infrastructure.

Develop and maintain databases, digital data collection forms, trackers, and information management systems for NSET projects and organizational needs.

Collect, clean, verify, manage, and analyze project and organizational data, and prepare data summaries, tables, dashboards, and reports as required.

Provide IT and technical support for computers, software, printers, internet, online meetings, digital communication, and other office systems.

Provide technical support for digital surveys, GPS/location-based data, mapping, beneficiary registration, monitoring, training, and field activities.

Ensure regular data backup, security, confidentiality, access control, recovery, and proper management of electronic files.

Troubleshoot hardware, software, network, server, connectivity, and other IT-related issues.

Support staff and project teams in using digital tools, databases, and information management systems.

Maintain documentation of IT systems, databases, equipment, software licenses, and technical procedures.

Coordinate with MEAL, program, finance, procurement, administration, and technical teams on IT and information management requirements.

Ensure compliance with NSET policies, donor requirements, data protection, confidentiality, software licensing, and relevant IT standards.

Provide IT, database, and information management support to NSET projects and perform other duties assigned by NSET management.

4. Required Qualifications and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Management, or a relevant discipline.

At least 2 years of relevant experience in IT support, database management, information management, or related work.

Experience with NGO/INGO or development projects is preferred.

Knowledge of digital data collection platforms such as KoboToolbox, Google Forms, Open Data Kit (ODK), or equivalent is an advantage.

Knowledge of database systems such as MS Access, MySQL, SQL, or equivalent is an advantage.

Good knowledge of computer hardware, software, networking, and troubleshooting.

Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Nepali.
