Founded in 1960 and active in Nepal since 1985, Tdh has implemented impactful interventions in Maternal and Child Health, Migration, and WASH in Institutions, with a strong focus on Child Protection. Background

In response to the recent floods affecting Rasuwa, Nuwakot and Dhading, Terre des hommes (Tdh) is implementing Safe Project through local implementing partner to support flood-affected children, families and communities. The project focuses on strengthening protection and resilience through integrated interventions in Child Protection in Emergencies (CPiE), Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS), Multi-Purpose Cash Assistance (MPCA), and WASH.

The project will be implemented over an initial period of six months, with the possibility of extension based on needs, funding and project requirements.

Overview

Under direct supervision of Child Protection and Migration Program Manager, MHPSS Coordinator will provide technical leadership and support for planning, implementation, quality assurance and monitoring of MHPSS interventions under Safe project. The position will work closely with the implementing partner, relevant government authorities, Protection and MHPSS stakeholders and other project team members to ensure that MHPSS services are delivered in line with relevant standards, principles and good practices.

MHPSS Coordinator will also provide technical guidance and capacity-building support to implementing partner staff and contribute to strengthening safe, inclusive and context-appropriate psychosocial support mechanisms for children, caregivers and affected communities.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

a) Technical Support

Provide technical support in planning and rollout of MHPSS models (e.g., PM+, SH+, STAND-UP, EASE etc.) and structured play and recreational activities.

Coordinate with and provide guidance to MHPSS Focal Person at local implementing partner ensuring quality delivery of project activities

Facilitate training on MHPSS models to build capacity of partner staff and mentor partner staff to ensure their quality delivery.

Ensure proper documentation, analysis, and reporting of MHPSS activities in line with Tdh’s data protection and confidentiality standards.

Develop necessary MHPSS related process guideline and checklists in support of MEAL and other team at Country Delegation/Regional/HQ.

Ensure MHPSS interventions comply with global and Tdh’s MHPSS and child protection standards and principles.

Identify and address gaps in MHPSS knowledge and skills among frontline Facilitator.

b) Project Management

Support CP & Migration Program Manager in project management through developing project plan, implmentation through local partner and monitoring of project activities.

Conduct regular supervision and coaching sessions for facilitators and front-line workers delivering MHPSS services and document them.

Organize regular meetings with partner and report project progress.

Regularly update PFU in support of MEAL and SITREP.

Support in developing procurement plan of Safe Project, prepare weekly/monthly work plans, and contribute to the preparation of cash forecasts and logistics requests related to MHPSS.

Support in developing project reports in designed templates.

Report risks or challenges with suggested mitigation strategies

c) Coordination, advocacy and Networking

Support in service mapping for MHPSS services and maintain relationships with service providers (specialized and non-specialized).

Facilitate partner in linking referrals for specialized and non-specialized MHPSS services in coordination with internal and external actors.

Coordination with internal and external stakeholders to ensure integrated programming.

Liaise with partners, CBOs, and relevant authorities to promote access to MHPSS services and support referrals and case discussions.

Qualifications & Experience

Master’s Degree in Psychology, Social Science, Law or any other relevant subjects

At least 3 years’ experience in implementing CP program, experience of working in emergency context will be given preference.

Knowledge and experience of applying MHPSS Models

Have experience of facilitating trainings, managing project and partner.

Good conceptual and practical knowledge on Child Protection and System strengthening

Good knowledge and skills in Child Protection Minimum Standard and Child Protection in Emergency

Community engagement and child participation

Excellent communication, negotiation, networking skills and active listening abilities.

Ability to work under stressful conditions and adapt to local culture and situations effectively.

Understanding of and commitment to maintaining confidentiality and privacy.

Team player with the capacity to work collaboratively within a team.

Languages

Nepali and English both written and verbal is essential
