Institute of Himalayan Risk Reduction (IHRR) is an organization established with an objective to assess and understand the risk to contribute to sustainability. Complying with the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction(SFDRR), IHRR envisions to understand the risk and application of interdisciplinary knowledge with Science, Engineering, Technology and Innovation to contribute for risk reduction and bridging of academic research with professionals and policymakers for sustainability.

The team consists of professionals with expertise and experiences in the field of disaster risk management in understanding the risk, conducting academic research, and field-level implementations in Nepal and different parts of the world.

The Technical/Project Officer will provide technical, field and coordination support for the implementation of project activities related to digital information management, disaster assessment, GIS and spatial information, field data collection, coordination, evidence generation and recovery planning.

The Officer will work closely with IHRR's technical team, local implementing partners, local governments, government agencies, humanitarian organizations and affected communities to ensure that project-generated information is accurate, timely, accessible and effectively used for decision-making.

The Technical/Project Officer will contribute to the following outputs

Education: Bachelor's degree in one or more of the following fields Civil Engineering; Disaster Risk Management; Geomatics / Survey Engineering; Geography; Environmental Science or Engineering; Information Technology; Data Science; Rural Development; Development Studies; Social Sciences; or any other relevant discipline.

Candidates with postgraduate qualifications in a relevant discipline will be considered an advantage

The selected candidates must be willing to undertake frequent field travel within Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading and other project locations as required.

Depending on operational requirements, staff may be temporarily deployed to other project locations.

Priority will be given to qualified candidates who are local residents of, or have strong familiarity with, the respective duty station and surrounding project areas, particularly Rasuwa, Nuwakot and Dhading.

The Technical/Project Officer will report directly to the designated Project Coordinator/Project Lead at IHRR and will work closely with IHRR technical specialists; GIS and information-management personnel; Local implementing partners; Municipal and district authorities; Government technical agencies; Community representatives; and DCA/NetHope project stakeholders, as appropriate.

The assignment will be for the duration specified in the employment contract, with continuation subject to project requirements, satisfactory performance and availability of project funding.

The Officer must ensure that personal, household-level or otherwise sensitive disaster information is collected, stored, shared and used only for legitimate project and humanitarian purposes.

Given the field-based nature of the assignment and the importance of local knowledge, priority will be given to suitably qualified candidates from the respective duty stations and surrounding project areas, particularly candidates from Rasuwa, Nuwakot and Dhading.
