Oxfam has been working in Nepal for over 40 years. We implement programmes through three interrelated thematic priorities – Climate and Water, Gender Justice, and Humanitarian and DRM to respond to the intersectional and multidimensional nature of inequalities and injustices that perpetuate poverty in the lives of women, marginalized, vulnerable people and communities.
The Role
The role connects programme evidence and humanitarian response with strategic communications, turning field-level results and organisational expertise into compelling evidence, stories and propositions. Lead media and communications functions for humanitarian response, ensuring timely and impactful storytelling that captures community experiences, response achievements, and emerging needs. The position will closely liase with Media and Communications Coordinator, Oxfam in Nepal.
Who we’re looking for
We are looking for someone who has the following experience, knowledge and competencies.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in journalism, mass communication, development studies, social work or a related field.
Experience & Skills
Minimum 3 years’ relevant experience in humanitarian communications, media, communications, public relations or marketing, preferably with a civil society or humanitarian organisation.
Proven ability to gather, analyse and organise information and translate it into clear and compelling communications for different audiences.
Excellent written and spoken English and Nepali, with strong skills in writing and editing articles, stories and other communications materials.
Good skills in photography, videography, digital content and basic design, with the ability to produce or coordinate multimedia content.
Experience in media engagement, developing media contacts and supporting spokespersons with key messages, briefings and interviews.
