Vacancy announcement for 8th cohort of Saathi Teachers

We are looking to recruit 15 Saathi Teachers in the 8th cohort to work in our partner municipalities- Paanchpokhari Thangpal Rural Municipality in Sindhupalchowk district and Aanbookhaireni Rural Municipality and Bandipur Rural Municipality in Tanahun district. The cohort after selection will have to attend Saathi Teachers programme events and graduate from a few weeks long pre-service residential training taking place towards the end of this academic year and finally start working as a Saathi Teacher from Baisakh 2084 for two years.

Please read here for who qualifies, what is required and what it takes to become a Saathi Teacher and what is in being a Saathi Teacher.

Saathi Teachers Programme is an educational initiative under Helambu Education and Livelihood Partnership (HELP) operating under the theme of ‘Primary Must Not Be Secondary. It offers paired and paid placement for individuals seeking to teach Math or English at Basic Level in rural communities in order to help transform the educational experience of children. It is two years of supervised programme to increase literacy and numeracy skills of students, with additional focus on fostering and developing 21st century 4C skills (Creativity, Critical thinking, Communication, and Collaboration) in students.

Saathi Teachers Programme works in partnership with the local government and the schools to assist the overall growth of the students and the school. We currently work in three Rural Municipalities- Paanchpokhari Thangpal Rural Municipality in Sindhupalchowk district and Aanbookhaireni Rural Municipality and Bandipur Rural Municipality in Tanahun district. The partner municipalities pay for the large part of the Saathi Teachers’ direct stipend and the programme’s operational part is largely supported by Mondo Foundation, our UK partner organization, with contribution from Inter Hands Foundation to ensure we can sustain the programme in three municipalities.

Helambu Education and Livelihood Partnership (HELP) is a local NGO set up in 2009 intending to improve the quality of education in remote schools of Sindhupalchowk. As a grassroots local non-profit organization, we currently run five core programmes; Saathi Teachers Programme, Scholarship and Leadership Programme, School in a Bag Programme, Volunteer Programme and Livelihood Support Programme, designed and aimed to complement each other and strengthen the quality of education.
