Introduction: Child Nepal is a non-governmental organization committed to promoting a child- and youth-friendly culture across Nepal. Through evidence-based, rights-based, and community-centered interventions, it empowers children, youth, and families from marginalized and underserved communities. Its key thematic areas include sports for development and right to play, child and youth empowerment, arts and creativity, child protection, child rights advocacy, climate action and resilience and economic empowerment. By promoting inclusion, equal opportunities, leadership and meaningful participation; Child Nepal strives to build a just, equitable and resilient society where every child and young person can realize their full potential.
Project Overview: Sidelines to Stadium (Project S2S) is funded by the European Union and led by Child Nepal, in consortium with UniCoN and Protection Nepal, operating across Kathmandu, Kaski and Bara districts. The project aims to strengthen the skills and confidence of marginalized young people aged 16–29 through structured football training, connect them with pathways to professional opportunities in the football sector and promote a safe football environment through the formulation of a gender safeguarding policy specifically dedicated to the football sector in Nepal.
The project also includes Financial Support to Third Parties (FSTP) to strengthen resource-constrained local football clubs/org. This support is intended to address practical gaps in existing football-related infrastructure and/or essential training equipment that limit clubs’ ability to deliver inclusive and sustainable grassroots football activities.
Child Nepal invites eligible local football clubs/org operating in Kathmandu, to apply for this FSTP. The selected club/org will be expected to demonstrate a clear need for the proposed support and explain how the requested infrastructure improvement and/or equipment will contribute to more inclusive football opportunities, particularly for marginalized youths, including girls. It’s aim is to help reduce barriers to participation, strengthen grassroots football capacity and contribute to an enabling environment where resource deficit youths can develop their abilities, participate with dignity and pursue their aspirations in football.
