The CIMMYT is seeking an experienced professional to support the Sustainable and Resilient Farming Systems Intensification (SRFSI) project funded by ACIAR.  The project aims to reduce poverty in Eastern Gangetic Plains (EGPs) by improving the productivity, profitability and sustainability of small farmers while safeguarding the environment. Position title: Assistant Research Associate

Reference No: N18116

Duty station: Kathmandu or any SRFSI project working district.

Major duties and responsibilities

  • Assist with implementation of quantitative and qualitative research instruments to understand the uptake of Conservation Agriculture technologies in Nepal Terai, West Bengal, Bihar and North Eastern Bangladesh.
  • Assist with analysis of quantitative and qualitative data as per the above.
  • Act as minute taker at project meetings.
  • Assist with liaison and coordination of partners, particularly for project meetings.
  • Contribute to communications activities.
  • Travel as required within the South Asian region.
  • Any other duties as requested by supervisor.

Required academic qualifications, skills and attitudes:

  • Master’s Degree in agricultural extension, agricultural development, qualitative analysis or related field.
  • Experience of at least 1 year working with an agricultural research or development agency
  • Good analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate and interact effectively with collaborators, governments, NGOs and farmers.
  • Creativity in presentation and problem solving.
  • Fluency in English, with preference given for candidates who are able to communicate in Nepali, Hindi and/or Bengali.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word).
