Introduction:
BGN Veteran Services’ mission is to deliver post-retirement, administrative services (administer pension payment: and update, maintain & safeguards of records) and provide welfare support on UK settlement related matters to Gurkhas veteran and their eligible dependants in order to fulfil BGN tasks.
The job holder supports the Records Office mission below by assisting the Office Manager. “Records Office is to accurately, securely, legally and effectively process and maintain over 38000 records (physical and electronic) of Ex-Gurkha community on Gurkha Pension Scheme in order to provide them with post retirement administrative and welfare services.”

Job description:
- Help Office Manager with the day-to-day digitisation and library management including control of movement/accounting of personal documents and maintain and arrange for necessary repairs of the files.
- Digitise archive documents using digital scanning equipment in accordance with BGN Digitisation Guidelines.
- Ensure processed files are correctly scanned, colour corrected and enhanced.
- Attach accurate and detailed metadata to files.
- Quality check and upload scanned files on to Electronic Document Management System.
- Organise and maintain a digitation database.
What you will be doing:
Responsibilities:
- Collect and return archive materials to and from storage.
- Replace cover of old files with new ones, label and re-index them in numerical order.
- Check, input, maintain and retrieve information to/from the spread sheet provided and ex-servicemen’s files.
- Ensure the safe and appropriate handling & care of archived files.
- Be responsible for ensuring organisational Health and Safety procedures and good practice to maintain security of facilities and the health and safety of self and colleagues.
- Assist with the database updating activities and basic research enquiries under the supervision of more senior members of staff.
- Any other tasks commensurate with the grade.
- Maintain High Standard of Data Protection (a must).

Applicant should have good written/ spoken English and Nepali language skills. Proven experience, qualifications, and training is preferable for this role to deliver the job responsibility effectively and efficiently. You will be assessed on your English language skills and IT knowledge through a Practical Assessment to qualify for interviews during the sifting and selection process. College level education/qualification (+12/HSEB) is essential for this position.

Successful candidates must meet the security requirements before they can be appointed. The level of security needed is a Govt of Nepal Police Report for employment in Nepal.
