World Vision International Nepal (WVIN), an international Christian relief, development and advocacy organisation dedicated to working with children, families and communities to overcome poverty and injustice, is looking for potential Nepalese candidates to fill out the following position:

  1. Position: Recovery Project Coordinator (One) – based in National Office, Lalitpur or any Project District (Sarlahi, Sindhuli or Udayapur) – Six Months

Key Responsibilities: The Recovery Project Coordinator will support WVIN field team of the respective district at all levels by collating the project related information, compiling and updating information to Response Manager and Senior DRR Coordinator. The role is more focused on communication, facilitating the ground team members of PNGOs for the smooth implementation of the project activities, information sharing, compilation and reporting. S/he will also be responsible to manage the financial matters related to the project.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience required: Bachelor’s Degree in Disaster Risk Management, Environmental Science, Social Work, Development Studies, Social Science, or any relevant discipline with at least 5 years of working experience; preferably in I/NGO context in working with community/grassroots people and organizations; Should have working experience in disaster management, emergency and disaster recovery related projects; Should have good knowledge in current humanitarian and development affairs i.e. Core Humanitarian Standard (CHS), Sphere Standard, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Sendai Framework and DRR Act, policies, guidelines, strategies of government of Nepal; Experience of developing Local Disaster Climate Resilience Plan (LDCRP), Disaster Preparedness and Response Plan (DPRP) is essential; Experience on implementation of Cash and Voucher Assistance (CVA), Last Mile Mobile Solutions (LMMS) support and protection, education, health, DRR mainstreaming; Should have practical experience and knowledge in working with vulnerable people mainly the elderly, single women, People with Disability (PWDs), in the context of emergencies; Strong facilitation skills in building capacity of local government, partner organization and the community is required. Core competencies for the position: Excellent written and verbal skills in English and Nepali; demonstrated proficiency in computer applications including use of microsoft office tools and design softwares; ability to travel within the country, work independently and as an active team player. S/he should be self-motivated and have a high level of integrity and honesty; be willing to work under pressure; be creative and innovative with decision making and problem solving.

World Vision started its development initiatives in Nepal in 1982 by donating funds to local groups for building hospitals and providing health care. In response to the 1988 earthquake, World Vision helped local non-governmental organisations in providing assistance to the people affected. Similarly, in 1993, World Vision helped people affected by the floods through local partners. World Vision formally started its long-term development work in Nepal after signing both general and project agreement with the Social Welfare Council in 2001.Over the past years, World Vision International Nepal (WVIN) has funded community development in 14 districts namely Bhaktapur, Doti, Jumla, Kathmandu, Kaski, Kailali, Lamjung, Lalitpur, Morang, Rupandehi, Sunsari, Udayapur, Achham and Sindhuli through its Area Development Programmes (ADP). In 2013, four ADPs in Bhaktapur, Kathmandu, Kaski and Lalitpur districts phased out. World Vision is currently operational in 11 districts with 16 ADPs and projects in Lalitpur working with a goal to empower vulnerable children, their families and communities in Nepal to improve their quality of life with dignity and peace.
