Project:  Literacy Project

Position: Literacy Project Coordinator (LPC)

Station:  70% at RUDEC office bidur and travel 30% to project School

Working Area: Nuwakot District

Accountable to: Executive Director/Chairperson

Summary:

RUDEC-Nepal is currently implementing a project titled Literacy Projects funded by Room To Read Nepal. The Project is recruiting high proficiency candidate to implement the literacy project in Nuwakot District.

 Required Qualities

  • Good understanding of primary education system especially girl child and their fundamental rights, related laws, policies, plans and programs
  • Good advocacy and facilitation skills
  • Good interpersonal /listening/ mentoring/ communications and coordination skills
  • Good planning and reporting skill
  • Good understanding of gender equality and gender policies
  • Bachelor’s Degree in education, social works, or equivalent. Master’s degree and work experiences in social field preferable.
  • Sound knowledge of managing project cycle, advocacy, lobbying, norms, values and practices perpetuating discrimination against girl infants
  • Experience in facilitating workshops, meeting, seminars
  • Ability to work under pressure and in difficult conditions
  • Ability to work in a close partnership with other organizations
  • Excellent team work and team mobilization skills
  • Ability to work across multi-disciplinary team and context and build partnership to ensure achievement of results
  • Demonstrates good oral and written communication skills
  • Capacity to write clearly and concisely; in English Nepali language
  • Ability to drive two wheeler

Duties and Responsibilities

Literacy Project as approved plan of action and budget in coordination with concerned project team members. The Literacy Project Coordinator will be in-charge of all the activities of the project being implemented in their working districts. This includes, but not limited to:

  • Start with good rapport building with concerned government, non-government organizations, civil society members, groups and other stakeholders in the district.
  • Implementation Literacy Program, According to project implementation policies guidelines design by Room To Read and closely co ordination with RTR and RUDEC Team Member
  • Support to Literacy Facilitator  for the Instruction Class and operation of School Library at Project School
  • Preparation Annual plan and program
  • High Level Co ordination with Concern Stakeholder ( SMC, HT, PTA,Teacher RM/MC, DECU, RTR)
  • Collection of difference Types of Data related to the program and keep record, Provide to the project units as per needs and urgency
  • prepare Series of Report including Activity Report, Monthly, PIM, Quarterly, Half Yearly and Annual at prescribed format
  • Insure the implementation of  Project Activities as per plan and budget
  • Support to the Finance officer for the financial documentation including monthly financial financial Report Preparation, collection of Bills and other related documents
  • Prepare the Bid documents for the procurement of goods and service for the project related work
  • Insure the quality of furniture provided by Project
  • Prepare the plan of goods to the school
  • Prepare Concept note for the different types of Activity
  • Timely Responses of queries, feedback and comments by Program units
  • Mobilized the Literacy Facilitor at the field properly
  • Participate at the difference types of Visit of Donor and other respective bodies
  • Taken Approval of Program by RM/MC and other concern bodies
  • Prepare case stories and submit to the organization and donors
  • Engage in power mapping, resource mapping
  • Coordination and communication to the stakeholder
  • Prepare monthly report and submit to the organization and donors
  • Prepare and submit a tentative plan of action (TPA) for every upcoming month on the first day of the  month based on the plan of action provided by the Project
  • Ensure the periodic, event reports and financial reports are of high quality and submitted on time.
  • Settle advance on time
  • Monitoring and supervision of the field work in regular basis and reports are submitted to RUDEC Nepal central office on time.
  • Supervise staff under line supervision and conduct timely performance evaluation
  • Proper mobilization of  sub-ordinate staff and take initiatives to strengthen their capacity
  • Be available for monitoring and evaluation to be conducted both internally and externally.
  • Submit narrative and financial report within the fifth day of next month, preferably in English
  • Comply with RUDEC’s existing rules, regulations, code of conducts and entire policies.
  • Other tasks assigned by immediate supervisor and Executive Director and President.
  • Be a part of RUDEC’s other activities and events in the working district, as per need, demand and instruction from RUDEC office, as an ideal representation of RUDEC in the respective district and program area.
