PATH is currently implementing a broad portfolio of activities in Nepal on a range of health issues including Vaccines and Immunization systems strengthening, Maternal and Newborn child health (MNCH), health economics/costing studies for the last 7 years.
PATH Nepal is currently recruiting for a Program Manager to support vaccine implementation and system strengthening programs in Nepal and possibly other countries in Asia. The person in this position will provide technical assistance to PATH colleagues, the Ministry of Health, and other stakeholders to advance a portfolio of vaccine introduction related projects including development strategy for routine immunization, and zero dose children strategy/roadmap.
The Program Manager will lead the design and implementation of PATH’s public health programs and organizational initiatives in Routine Immunization projects, Vaccine introductions, Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (MNCH) and other projects for public health impact. The Senior Program officer will represent PATH externally, serving as a scientific expert and representative for Health Systems and supports PATH’s global work in the space. The role will involve collaborating closely with internal and external stakeholders.
We seek candidates who have at least 5-7 years’ experience working with immunization programs and systems to help implement and evaluate strategies that protect children from vaccine-preventable diseases and overall experience of 10-12 years in public health.
Responsibilities:
- Liaise with the project teams and partners to ensure the successful implementation of project activities, including creating work plans, budgeting, and reporting.
- Work closely with the relevant stakeholders, including Ministry of Health, universities, NGOs, civil society organizations, private sector partners, etc.
- Provide regular reports and updates to the key stakeholders on Immunization projects.
- Facilitate trainings and organize key events and meetings.
- Provide technical support for project activities, monitoring, reporting, evaluation, and documentation in a timely manner.
- Assist with other programmatic and administrative duties as required for successful implementation of program activities.
- Identify issues of public health importance in Nepal and liaise with other program leaders at PATH to develop areas of intervention.
- Provide inputs to the Strategy and Partnerships Development team on new opportunities.
- Represent PATH on external engagements in Nepal, including positioning for new grants, partnerships, and collaborations.
- Represent PATH as a member of PATH’s South Asia team, that includes Nepal, Bangladesh, India, Sri Lanka, and Myanmar.
- Represent PATH at the Social Welfare Council (SWC) and update the SWC on PATH projects in Nepal, as required from time to time.
- Other work, as per the project/organization requirements.
Required Experience
- Doctoral/Master’s Degree in Medicine, Public Health/ Epidemiology, or related field, from a reputed institute.
- Minimum 5-7 years of relevant work experience in vaccines and immunization and overall experience of 10-12 years, with demonstrated skills in vaccine implementation and roles in the design and/or delivery of public health programs and experience in working on Health Systems related projects.
- Experience in projects that involve liaising with government institutions, and multilateral agencies like WHO, UNICEF, GAVI, the World Bank, and/or other stakeholders and NGOs.
- Proven ability to multi-task and collaborate work effectively with senior staff, colleagues, donors, partner organizations, stakeholders, local institutions, and others at all levels.
- Ability to work in a complex environment with multiple tasks, short deadlines, and an emphasis on quality.
- Excellent analytical, communication, presentation and report writing skills
- Excellent skills in facilitation, team building and coordination.
- Fluency in English and Nepali.
- Demonstrable problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in application of Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Office Suite with an emphasis on proficiency in Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
- Proven success drafting, proofreading, and editing documents.
- Extremely detail-oriented, with the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multi-site organization and in a team-based structure.
Must have legal authorization to work in Nepal.
