The Centre for Mental Health and Counselling – Nepal (CMC-Nepal), a national level NGO working on mental health and psychosocial support, launches a call for applications in its project, called Promotion of Child Mental Health and Psychosocial Wellbeing in Community), implemented in Siraha and Dhanusa from February 2021 for 4 years, funded and supported by CBM. This project aims to improve psychosocial wellbeing of girls and boys including children with disabilities in collaboration with local governments through strengthening government policies and mechanism on inclusive child mental health and psychosocial wellbeing aligning with CRC &CRPD in collaboration with local, provincial and federal governments and improving mental health psychosocial well-being of most marginalized and vulnerable children, girls, children with disabilities, children from hard to reach population/communities.

It therefore seeks candidates for the following positions:

1. Project Coordinator- 1 full-time position, based in Provincial Office at Dhalkebar, Dhanusa with field visits to project areas) is responsible to design, plan, implement, monitor and reporting of the project activities and extend coordination and collaboration with local government, provincial government, Organization of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs), NFDN, CBM and other concerned stakeholders for the effective implementation of the project. Project Coordinator is expected to provide technical and project management support to the project team members in implementation of project activities at field level.

Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Psychology or Counselling Psychology or Social Work (or Science) or any relevant field from recognized university with least 5 years working experience in community or school based mental health and psychosocial support program.
  • Having strong competence in project management, leadership, networking and coordination
  • Practical and strong background in supervising project team members in mental health and psychosocial perspective, with emphasis on child mental health issues will be advantage for the post
  • Having good comprehension and learning attitude in mental health, psychosocial interventions and disability inclusion
  • Experience in coordination with multi-stakeholders (GOs/I/NGOs/OPDs) for the effectiveness of implementation of the project activities and its upscaling and sustainability
  • Good report writing, documentation and communication skills in both English and Nepali language
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-cultural environment and establish harmonious and effective working relationships within and outside the organization
  • Willing to be based in Dhanusa, Province No 2 and travel extensively in the project areas

2. Child Mental Health Officer- 1 full-time position, based in Provincial Office at Dhalkebar, Dhanusa with field visits to project areas) is responsible for training and supervision to the teachers, parents/care givers, students, OPD representatives and other stakeholders of the project in child mental health and psychosocial wellbeing, and support to the Community Psychosocial Workers (CPSW) in conducting child mental health and psychosocial awareness activities, empowerment of mental health self-help groups and providing psychosocial support and disability inclusion at community and local level.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor in Public Health or Bachelor in Psychology or Counselling Psychology or Social Work with Proficiency Certificate Level in General Medicine (Health Assistant) passed or Health Assistant passed from the recognized University.
  • 3 years working experience in community or school based mental health and psychosocial support program, working with teachers, parents, youth/child clubs, psychosocial workers, Self-Help Groups and Organizations of Persons with DisabilitiesHaving practical and strong background in training and supervising MHSW and CPSW in mental health and psychosocial skills, and further enhancing supportive supervisory roles of CPSW and health workers in psychosocial counselling.
  • Having good comprehension and learning attitude in mental health, psychosocial interventions and disability inclusion
  • Strong coordination, networking and facilitation skills
  • Good report writing, documentation and communication skills in both English and Nepali
  • Computer Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel, data management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-cultural environment and establish harmonious and effective working relationships within and outside the organization
