Safer Migration (SaMi) Program is bilateral initiative between the Government of Nepal and the Government of Switzerland. It is implemented by the Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Security and 156 participating local governments. Helvetas Nepal provides technical assistance to the program on behalf of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).

1. Position: Deputy Team Leader (1)

Job Purpose: The Deputy Team Leader will work closely with the Team Leader (TL) to provide strategic direction to the SaMi program team to accomplish objectives and targets as stipulated in the program document and log frame. The position will give special focus on the Federal State Building (FSB) and psychosocial component. S/he will support Team leader for the effective human resource management, efficient program, finance and administration management and partner management of the SaMi program. The post holder will analyse evidence gathered and based on evidence and learnings, support policy discussions at the national and international level and contribute to the adaptive program management.

Required Education, Experience and Social Competence: Master’s Degree in Public Administration, Sociology, Population studies, Development Studies or in a relevant field. Minimum 7 years of experience working in project/program implementation with at least 3 years of dedicated experience in managing program, human resources, finance, administration and partner management. Having experience in the field of psychosocial support and foreign employment will be value added. Good understanding on governance system, particularly on the federal context of Nepal. Commitment towards gender equality, social inclusion, and poverty reduction and sensitivity towards migrant workers and their families.

Duty Station: SaMi Program Support Unit, Lalitpur with frequent travel to the field as required.


2. Position: Governance Coordinator (1)

Job purpose: This position will work closely with the provincial and local government stakeholders to institutionalize the safer migration program for its sustainability. The post holder will draw learnings from province program team and contributes government stakeholders in policy and guidelines formulation and policy change to address migration and governance issues. The incumbent will also facilitate for the capacity enhancement of labour and employment section of provincial and local governments.

Required Education, Experience and Social Competence: Master’s Degree in Social Science or in a relevant field. Minimum 5 years of work experience in development field and 3 years in the field of governance with similar responsibilities. Experience in the field of migration will be an added value. Commitment towards gender equality, social inclusion, and poverty reduction and sensitivity towards migrant workers and their families.

Duty Station: Biratnagar, with frequent travel to the field as required.

Duration: Until 15 July, 2024
