Position: Program Officer
The International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) is an international NGO that supports the building of democratic societies around the world. Since 2006, IFES Nepal has worked with the Election Commission of Nepal (ECN) and local civil society partners to enhance citizen participation and strengthen civil society, governance and transparency. IFES Nepal is seeking a Program Officer support program design and implementation, report writing, communications and product development for IFES’ women’s leadership project. This position will be under the supervision of the Program Manager and will be full-time based in Kathmandu, with potential for some travel outside Kathmandu.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Support the implementation of IFES’ women’s leadership program, monitoring all program activities to ensure deliverables are being met;
- Monitor program activities to ensure all donor regulations and policies are adhered and deliverables are met with consistent high quality;
- Support the preparation of written reports and presentations on IFES’ programs as required, specifically providing inputs for bi-monthly activity reports and donor reports;
- Communicate and coordinate with IFES Nepal staff and CSO partner(s) to get updates and relevant program information for use in donor communications;
- Support management of IFES’ social media initiatives, and support partner(s) social media efforts;
- Provide technical and logistics support to IFES’ subaward partners in implementation of project activities;
- Support monitoring and evaluation efforts through CSO report analyses, data compilation and field visits;
- Troubleshoot challenges with sub-award programs and identify and implement creative solutions;
- Other relevant duties as assigned by the Program Manager, Country Director or Deputy Country Director.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in international development, political science, international relations or a related field, Master’s degree preferred;
- Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in international development or related field, preferably working with an international organization;
- Experience managing CSO partner projects;
- Experience supporting communications and reporting for donor-funded programs preferred;
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office Programs, Excel, Internet) are required, familiarity with designing software and tools is an asset;
- Strong grammar and editing skills;
- Excellent organizational skills;
- Fluency in English and Nepali, both written and verbal and excellent communication skills are required; and
- Ability to work independently in support of a team.
