Program Officer (Kathmandu based)

The Program Officer position is a designated Kathmandu based position as part of the GBV PR II project. S/he will be based in Kathmandu office with frequent visits to the project sites and will support the Team Lead in program management.

The overall job responsibility of this position is to ensure the effective implementation of the GBVPR II project that aims reduction of all forms of gender-based violence and discrimination against women and girls as per the approved work plan. This position will be under the direct supervision of the Senior Advisor/Team Lead GBV PR II.

Detailed duties and responsibilities for the position

  • Support team lead to prepare the work plan, and budget of partners
  • Coordinate and collaborate with implementing partners, project team (province coordinators/ district-based program officers) for the timely implementation of the work plan for GBV PR II project
  • Support in tracking of the project activities and update the team on monthly basis in program management team (PMT) meeting
  • Facilitate the sub award management, technical assistance to partners and monitoring quality of services provided by the service delivery points.
  • Provide technical assistance to the federal government on GBV – PR related protocols and guidelines, and to institutionalize them in their long-term plans and investment.
  • Take a lead role to coordinate with National Health Training Centers (NHTC), Nursing and social security division (NSSD) and other stakeholders for smooth functioning of program activities.
  • Provide regular support to the team as and when required.
  • In coordination with implementing partners, conduct periodic joint review meetings to document the project achievements in close coordination with M&E team.

Qualification and experience requirements:

  • Academic qualification of at least a master’s degree in Gender Studies, Women’s Studies, Social Science or Development Studies.
  • At least three years of relevant field and project management experience in the sector of gender-based violence (GBV) response project and women and girl’s reproductive health rights.
  • Demonstrated experience in communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience on Gender Transformative Approach and Survivor–Centered Approach working with various levels of the government, community and implementing partners.
  • Well-organized, with ability to track multiple projects activities and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work successfully in a cross-cultural, team-based, global environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in facilitation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong written and spoken communications skills in English and Nepali language for report writing and documentation.
  • Willingness to travel in field, even remote areas (estimated 40% time in the field using public transportation).
  • Flexible to adapt to challenging work environment.
