Karuna Foundation Nepal (KFN) is a Nepali Non-Governmental Organization which aims to prevent avoidable disabilities among children and improve quality of lives of children and adults with disabilities, developing evidence based scalable community models.

It has been working in disability prevention and community based rehabilitation in Nepal since 2007.

Position: Officer-Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E)

Number of Vacancies: 3

Duty Station: Sankhuwasabha (1), Bhojpur (1), Sunsari/ Morang (1)

Contract Type: Fixed term contract with three months of probation period

Program Background:

Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation Program, formerly known as Inspire2Care Program, is a community-based model of inclusive development implemented in direct partnership with the provincial government of Province No.1 and local governments. The goal of the program is to prevent avoidable disabilities and improve quality of life of children and adults with disabilities and their families through community-based rehabilitation. It works to strengthen community support systems for the achievement of these goals.

Required Qualifications and Experiences:

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Public health or statistics from recognized institution with two years of work experience of Monitoring and Evaluation in I/NGOs

Skills and Abilities

• Demonstrated ability to compile and synthesize data, draft case stories and reports
• Excellent computer skills especially statistical analysis using Epi-data, SPSS, MS Access, MS Excel
• Good analytical and research skills
• Ability to guide co-workers, community facilitators and government health workers on recording and reporting formats/system
• Excellent communication skills both in Nepali and English
• Ability to work under pressure
• Experience using mobile based data collection (Commcare, ODK Collect, etc.) are preferred
• Applicants with two-wheeler driving license will be preferred

Key Responsibilities:

Planning

• Support the program team to develop annual plan of the program
• Make necessary plan in line with the program activities and the local scenario
• Timely submission of periodic plan to Province Office

Implementation

• Provide technical support in conducting readiness assessment, health facility assessment and other situation analysis of Palikas
• Provide necessary support to the team for the effective implementation of planned activities

Supervision, Monitoring and Evaluation

• Take lead in the implementation of Management Information System (MIS) in the Palikas in close coordination with M&E Central and Provincial Office
• Coordinate and support province and central team in the implementation of baseline, mid-line and end-line surveys
• Lead data validation at the local level of program implementation
• Ensure utilization of checklist for effective monitoring of the program
• Carry out field visits to review the implementation of M&E standards and provide technical backstopping to make improvements
• Support effective implementation M&E systems to meet the range of organizational requirements

Communication, Reporting and Documentation

• Support to organize and coordinate participatory lessons learnt workshops/review of program work plans with partners and other stakeholders and generates strategic learning for organizational knowledge management
• Check for accountability among the KFN team members and local stakeholders through accountability check tool
• Ensure prompt reporting to the Central Office and Province Office including challenges, learning, information on local dynamics Ensure utilization of tools and templates to strengthen reporting and documentation system of the organization
• Provide necessary support to Officer-Program and Officer-CBR for proper reporting and documentation
• Collect and compile periodic report and timely submission to Province Office
