Local Initiatives for Biodiversity, Research, and Development (LI-BIRD) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization established in October 1995 with its Head Office in Pokhara and Programme Coordination Office in Lalitpur. LI-BIRD is committed to capitalizing on local initiatives for sustainable management of renewable natural resources and improving the livelihoods of rural people in Nepal.

LI-BIRD and Welthungerhilfe (WHH), Nepal are in the process of jointly implementing the project entitled ‘Strengthening the Agricultural Value Chains in Salyan and Sindhupalchok districts of Nepal (AVC)’ funded by Happel Foundation, Switzerland. The main goal of the project is to enhance the livelihoods of smallholder farmers through strengthened agricultural value chains. The project will work on strengthening the capacity of cooperatives and market promotion committees to ensure supply of quality input to the producer farmers and marketing of agricultural produce.

Position: Value Chain Coordinator (VCC) (Level 8) -1 (based at Project Site Office in Salyan)
Job Summary: Reporting to the Programme Operations Director, Value Chain Coordinator will be responsible for the overall management of the project by providing the leadership role in the areas of planning, execution, monitoring, coordination, documentation and reporting. S/he needs to ensure efficient management of the project resources including staff and budget, building relationships with donor and government and provide technical guidance to the project team and cooperatives to achieve project outcomes. The VCC provides strategic input to the project and leads the overall process and plans of developing implementing value chains and its financing model.
Education and Experience: Masters Degree in agriculture economics or agribusiness or equivalent in related fields, with 3 years of work experience (preferably 5 years) in agriculture value chain development and private sector promotion.
