OVERVIEW: The United States Peace Corps Nepal office is hiring qualified candidates for short term contract positions that support an intensive Volunteer Pre-Service Training (PST). Applicants must be willing to live in a village around or outside of the Kathmandu valley from approximately the end of December 2022 through the end of April 2023; dates subject to change based on programmatic need. This is a full-time position for the duration of the project and requires a minimum of 40 hours per week; work during festivals & holidays that occur during the contract period may be required.
This is a project-based contract and may be renewed up to four future assignments without competition based on satisfactory performance, organizational need, and availability of funds. Compensation is negotiable within a pre-determined range, based on salary history and experience.
QUALIFICATIONS & SELECTION: Applicants without minimum qualifications clearly outlined will not be competitive; preference is given to citizens residing in Nepal at the time of application. Training Administrative Assistant (TAA)
Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Business studies or related field. Fluency in both written and spoken Nepali and English. Minimum one year of experience in administrative support and logistics management in any GO, NGO, or INGO. Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office. Good communication skills. Ability to perform administrative responsibilities efficiently and in compliance with Peace Corps and other relevant regulations. Desired: For more detail, refer to Statement of Work.
Training Site Secretary (TSS)
Required: Secondary Education level degree (High-school or College). Fluent in both written and spoken Nepali and English. Excellent computer skills, must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word,Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint). Highly organized and ability to multi-task. Ability to type in Nepali and English. Lead Language and Culture Facilitator (LLCF)
Required: Bachelor’s degree in any discipline. Fluency in both written and spoken Nepali and English. Minimum six months of experience in a role similar to a Peace Corps Language and Culture Facilitator (that is, teaching Nepali language and culture to foreigners) for an international organization. Strong knowledge of Nepali culture and ethnic diversity. Experience with facilitating training sessions. Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word,Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint)

Language and Culture Facilitators (LCFs)
Required: Bachelor’s degree in any discipline. Fluency in both written and spoken Nepali and English. Minimum of one year teaching Nepali language locally and/or to foreigners. Knowledge of Nepali cultural value systems, practices and ethnic diversity. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Willing to live with a Nepali family at the Training site outside of Kathmandu for the duration of contract period.
Desired: Ability to also speak one or more ethnic languages (Magar and Gurung) and Far western dialects. Experience working with marginalized communities in Nepal. For more detail, refer to Statement of Work.
Technical Trainer (TT)
Required: Bachelor’s Degree in agriculture or related field. Minimum of one year of work experience in the Agriculture or Food Security sectors. Experience in one or more of the following: high value low volume crops, beekeeping, fruit tree cultivation, nutrition education. Fluency in both written and spoken Nepali and English. Experience in training session design and facilitation in related field. Training design, implementation and work experience in an intercultural environment. Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word,Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).

EVALUATION PROCESS:
Prior to any contract offer, at a minimum –
- Peace Corps will evaluate resumes and cover letters to create a short-list.
- Short-listed candidates will be invited for group/personal interview, as well as may be asked to participate in practical written and/or oral exercises to assess skill levels.
- Top candidates will asked to submit names and contact information for at least 3 references; one reference must be a present/former supervisor or professor.
