Introduction

People in Need (PIN) is a non-governmental, non-profit, international organization founded in the Czech Republic in 1992. PIN arrived in Nepal as part of a humanitarian response to the April 25, 2015 earthquake. Since its inception in Nepal, PIN has had a strong role advocating and addressing the needs of marginalized populations. This includes people who live in geographically remote areas of Nepal, people who are from historically marginalized ethnic groups, and those marginalized because of their age and/or gender identity (women and girls). More recently, PIN has also supported Nepal’s post-earthquake reconstruction efforts ensuring that the most vulnerable people are not left behind. PIN is strongly committed for safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults, including people with disability, in line with its safeguarding framework and child protection policy.

“Aarambha” is a five-year program funded by UKAID’s Leave No Girl Behind (LNGB) program under Girls’ Education Challenge (GEC) campaign. The project will be implemented by two downstream partners (DSPs), with strong emphasis on literacy, numeracy, life skills and gender transformative intervention for married out of school (MOO-S) adolescent girls in province 2. PIN Nepal is currently looking for a qualified and competent Project Coordinator to support program team in implementing, managing and achieving the pre-determined project outcomes mostly around life skills and gender transformative school intervention.

Scope of work

Under the direct supervision of the Project Manager, Project Coordinator will support the project team in the effective implementation of the workplan activities. This includes supporting program, M&E department, and partners’ staff in the implementation of project deliverable in the field. S/he will be responsible for management of activities trackers, information sharing across the organization, partners and other relevant stakeholders.

Project Implementation

• Act as PIN’s lead at municipal level within the consortium, supporting DSP in implementation of work plan activities as per instructions from the Project Manager.
• Ensure clear communication flow and coordination between PIN, DSPs, government stakeholders, other partner and beneficiaries.
• Assist Project Manager to organize and participate in regular meetings with DSPs, government and other stakeholders.
• Supervise and support partner’s staff to conduct all the activities under project outputs. Familiarize partners with tools, methodology and coaching techniques.
• Provide support to carry out the capacity development and community engagement activities with/for partners, communities and local stakeholders that are directly linked with project activities.
• Support and assist PIN’s MEAL department, programs department, local partners, and external evaluation partner to ensure regular program monitoring, evaluation and learning.
• Ensure safeguarding of children, vulnerable groups (including people with disabilities) and those in fragile and conflict-affected states at all times.

Project Operations Management

• Support Project Manager for operational management of the project including financial, admin, logistics, safeguarding and communications tasks to ensure full compliance with PIN’s and donor’s requirement.
• Work closely with the Project Manager to ensure that partner complies with contractual obligations.
• Ensure Branding and Marketing is well reflected and is practiced in all activities as guided by the GEC/LNGB and PIN’s Communication Guideline.
• Support Project Manager and M&E unit to ensure that the partners are on track in terms of meeting deadlines and producing quantitative and qualitative deliverables.
• Support Safeguarding and Protection Focal person to monitor field staffs and partners’ adherence to PIN’s policies and internal procedures, protocols, PIN’s Code of Conduct, with special attention to Safeguarding Standards and Procedure, Case Handling Framework, Child Protection, safeguarding and Do No Harm policies; immediate reporting and redress of any complaints and issues based on its severity.

Required skill, experience and knowledge

• Bachelor’s degree in education, social science, rural development, development Studies or relevant field, with at least 2 years of demonstrated work experience with an I/NGO in one or more of the following areas:
• Outstanding communications and networking skills. Local language proficiency (Bajika, Bhojpuri, Maithili) will be a plus
• Strong cultural sensitivity, adaptability and flexibility
• Girls’ empowerment interventions; particularly life skills, leveraging livelihood and gender transformative school & community interventions
• Good knowledge and understanding around child protection, gender equality, social inclusion, and social/gender norms in Province-2
• Holistic child development, participation and rights
• Community engagement/participation and local government mobilization
