ROLE PURPOSE

Plan is seeking applicants for a Gender, Equity, and Social Inclusion Lead for an anticipated USAID-funded Adolescent Reproductive Health/Family Planning activity in Nepal. The GESI Lead will report to the Deputy Chief of Party and is responsible for providing leadership to ensure that project activities address gender specific activities surrounding adolescent RH/FP. This position is contingent upon award of the project by the donor.

Description

ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Provide gender, equity, and social inclusion-related technical support to thematic team leaders, participating in thematic team planning processes and the implementation of program activities as required.
• Provide GESI related capacity building for partners and staff
• Ensure the use of participatory and collaborativeproblem-solving approaches to develop strategies and approaches for gender and youth integration, and promotion of social inclusion for marginalized groups, within program plans, Theory of Change (ToC) processes, monitoring and learning plans, implementation guidance.
• Foster commitment from, and build the capacity of, team members, partners, local stakeholders and communities to facilitate gender transformative outcomes and positive youth engagement; this includes developing and delivering formal training but also coaching and mentoring.
• Lead the collection, analysis and utilization of information from a wide variety of sources to inform the program’s gender, youth and social inclusion approaches.

Ensures that Plan International’s global policies for Child Protection (CPP) and Gender Equality and Inclusion (GEI) are fully embedded in accordance with the principles and requirements of the policy including relevant Implementation Standards and Guidelines as applicable to their area of responsibility. This includes, but is not limited to, ensuring staff and associates are aware of and understand their responsibilities under these policies and Plan International’s Code of Conduct (CoC), their relevance to their area of work, and that concerns are reported and managed in accordance with the appropriate procedures.

TECHNICAL EXPERTISE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

• Bachelor’s degree in International Development, sociology, ethnology, anthropology, education or other relevant degree in social science with 4-5 years of experience in GESI and Adolescent Reproductive Health/Family Planning (ASRH)
• Master’s Degree in Gender Studies, development studies, social science, or relevant field with 2-3 years of experience in managing and leading gender related programmes will be preferred
• Work experience in effective development and execution of gender-specific trainings and other capacity development endeavors
• Work experience on USAID projects is strongly preferred
• In-depth knowledge on gender and development issues along with hands-on experience of mainstreaming gender issues
• Skilled in conducting gender analysis, assessments and developing gender sensitive methodologies for programme and related evaluations
• Excellent communication, facilitation and presentation skills with ability to multitask and coordinate with multiple stakeholders
• Excellent command and proficiency in spoken and written English and Nepali languages
• In-depth understanding of the international human rights framework for development, key development issues, approaches and tools
• Proven knowledge of latest debates, issues, research and practice in Gender & Child Rights programs and programme implementation in a range of contexts – local, national and regional
• Up-to-date and various project design and evaluation models and government program and policies
• Knowledge of the Nepal Government Policies, Program Priorities and Ministry of women, children and social welfare
