Prakriti Resources Centre (PRC) is a non-governmental organization working for sustainable development and environmental justice in Nepal. Organizational focus is in the areas of climate change, resilience and disaster risk reduction and environmental sustainability. In these areas, we conduct research and study, carry out policy intervention, build awareness, knowledge and capacity of stakeholders, and facilitate dialogue among them.

PRC is seeking an expression of interest from qualified candidates for the following positions in MAP for 100% Renewable Energy project. The 3-year project aims to build multi-stakeholder platform to facilitate policy discourses on 100% renewable energy in federal, provincial and municipal governments. Similarly, PRC is also looking for a qualified candidate in Mobilizing Development Finance for Strategic and Scaled-up Investment in Climate Adaptation project. It is a research project supported by International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD) and aims to study the role of Multilateral Development Banks in scaling up climate finance in Nepal.

Position: Programme Coordinator

Number of Vacancies: 1

Job Location: Kathmandu

Reports to: Programme Director

Period: 12 months with possibility of extension

Probation Period: 3 months

Project: MAP for 100% Renewable Energy

Job Summary:

Programme Coordinator will be primarily responsible for managing MAP for 100% Renewable Energy Project and delivering the project interventions ensuring high quality results within the stipulated timeframe. She/he will lead the project team and ensure cordial working environment. She/he is also expected to maintain regular coordination with government line agencies and other relevant stakeholders in implementing the project.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage MAP for 100% renewable energy project.
• Oversee financial management of MAP for 100% renewable energy project
• Manage people in the team and supervise the team members.
• Supervise and oversight other projects implemented by PRC.
• Develop Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) framework and commission project monitoring and evaluation.
• Prepare a quality report of the projects and ensure timely submission.
• Ensure fulfillment of compliance in the project execution.
• Collaborate with government stakeholders, NGOs and relevant networks on climate change and energy
• Contribute in the design of new projects in climate change sector, developing proposals and ensure compliance.
• Support the management committee on organizational operation and management.

Knowledge, Skills&Abilities:

• Knowledge of project cycle management, budgeting and MEL.
• Knowledge on policy discourses on climate change and energy.
• Knowledge of federal systems and functions and duties of federal, provincial and municipal governments
• Strong understanding on gender perspective and able to mainstream gender in project design and planning.
• Basic computer skills like Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint and English and Nepali typing
• Strong interpersonal skills and build professional relationship within team, partners, governments.
• Good command in writing quality reports in English language
• Good Communication (spoken and written skills) including ability to draft/edit a variety of written reports, case studies and other communications both in English and Nepali language
• Willing to travel within the country when work demands.
• Able to take initiative, multi-tasking, and willingness to work under pressure to meet deadlines.

Qualification and Experiences:

• Master Degree in Energy, Environment Science, Natural Resources Management, Development Studies or related disciplines.
• At least 4 years of relevant work experience in managing a multi-year donor funded project.
• Previous experience working in the field of renewable energy, climate change and environment
• Experience of working in renewable energy and climate change policy processes.
• Previous experience of managing people and working with network and alliances.


Position: Administration and Finance Coordinator

Reports to: Operation Director

Period: 12 months with possibility of extension

Project: MAP for 100% Renewable Energy

Job Summary:

Administration and Finance Coordinator is primarily responsible for financial management and administration for operation of the organization. She/he will lead administration and financial team and strengthen financial and administration system of the organization. She/he will be responsible for financial reporting, monitoring, ensuring timely audit andmeeting compliance of the projects. She/he will work closely with Programme Coordinator and Project Officers for effective implementation of the projects implemented by PRC.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Lead on administrative and financial functions as per the organization policies.
• Take actions to meet financial compliances in the donor funded projects.
• Prepare financial reports of the projects in the given templates.
• Manage people in the team and supervise the team members.
• Ensure tax and other compliances of the government are met
• Develop project budgets and make revisions as necessary.
• Conduct timely statutory audit and project audits as necessary.
• Procure good and services required to deliver project activities.
• Support internal audit committee to keep financial systems up-to-date.
• Support on organizational renewable and project approval as per the rule of laws.
• Support the project team on effective and timely delivery of project activities.
• Support the management committee to strengthen financial and administrative system.

Knowledge, Skills &Abilities:

• In-depth knowledge of financial and accounting regulations and its principles
• Familiar with NGO administration and operation.
• Knowledge of prevailing tax laws, procurement laws and other laws related to NGO operation.
• Knowledge of logistics and procurements systems for supplies and equipments.
• Good command in developing project budgets and other financial reporting.
• Strong command in using accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
• Willing to travel within the country when work demands.
• Able to take initiative, multi-tasking, and willingness to work under pressure to meet deadlines.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Master degree in Business Administration, Business Studies or equivalent. Preference will be given to those specialized in finance.
• Minimum experience of at least 4 years in a similar position in NGO/INGO.
• Experience in handling accounting software such as Wheatstone Accounting Software

Job Summary

Project Officer will work within a project team ensuring effective and timely delivery of MAP for 100% Renewable Energy project’s activities. She/he will support the programme coordinator in planning, implementation and monitoring and evaluation of the project.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Lead on delivery of the project activities as per the project implementation plan.
• Develop and revise project implementation plan in consultation with project team.
• Organise and facilitate meetings, workshops, interactions, seminars and other events.
• Organise capacity building activities as planned in the project.
• Document and maintain project documents, reports, and other information related to the project.
• Regular travel to the project areas to implement project activities.
• Collaborate with government stakeholders, NGOs and relevant networks on climate change and energy
• Support on conducting monitoring and evaluation of the project.
• Support in preparing quality reports of the project activities.
• Work with project team fortimely delivery of project activities.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Adaptation project

Job Summary

Project Officer – Research will work with PRC team in commissioning research planned in Mobilizing Development Finance for Strategic and Scaled-up Investment in Climate Adaptation project. She/he will also manage other research studies commission by PRC and ensure compliance.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Prepare Term of Reference of research studies to be commissioned by PRC.
• Prepare a detailed execution plan of research and ensure timely completion of research
• Develop a quality publication to share the research findings.
• Develop communication and dissemination plans to share the research findings
• Organise and facilitate meetings, workshops, seminars and other events.
• Supervise data collection work and lead in field surveys.
• Conduct, document and process literature reviews.
• Support in managing interviews and finalizing interview questions and checklists.
• Support in hiring of external resource persons (if needed) to commission research.
• Support in developing research project proposal.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Knowledge on conducting/commissioning qualitative and quantitative research
• Knowledge on climate change, climate finance, resilience and Disaster Risk Reduction and relevant sectors.
• Knowledgeable and skillful in using different referencing styles.
• Basic computer skills like Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and English and Nepali typing
• Able to conduct data collection using survey, Focus Group Discussion (FGD)and Key Informants Interviews (KIIs) and other research tools.
• Good command in writing quality reports in English language.
• Willing to travel within the country when work demands.

Qualification and Experience:

• Bachelor Degree (preferably Master) in Business Administration, Natural Resources Management, Human and Natural Resources Studies, Development Studies or related disciplines
• At least 2 years of relevant work experience in undertaking research.
• Previous research experiences in climate change, climate finance, public finance and natural resources management.
