Rural Education and Environment Development Center (REED Nepal) was founded in 2000 AD with an aim to improve the quality of education in the community Schools of Nepal. Currently, we are working in 23 districts across Nepal to enhance the quality education and environment in right based approaches and protect children/girls from all forms of abuses, sexual exploitation, including trafficking, and so on. It has recently started to expand it sectorial and regional areas of operation focusing on Education, School Constructions, Environment and Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) and Management. REED initiated its activities targeting the Himalayan regions of Nepal but has started working in Terai region as well. REED Nepal announces Vacancy for the following position based on Salleri, Solukhumbu.

Admin and Finance Officer- 1 Position

Purpose: Ensure effective and efficient management and coordinate administrative functions of district in compliance with REED Nepal’s financial policy, standard and procedure. Establish effective internal control in the financial management in district. Facilitate district team in integrated financial planning, budgeting and monitoring in accordance financial guideline of REED Nepal. Ensure standard record keeping, prepare & submit reports to stakeholders on time. Maintain high confidentiality of documents and information and take adequate measures for safety and security of documents, information and other resources.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Prepare, examine, and analyze accounting records, financial statements, and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and comply to reporting and procedural standards.
  2. Prepare vouchers and enter in the books of accounts after obtaining proper approvals.
  3. Prepare periodic Trail balance, bank reconciliation, income and expenditures, budget and expenses report for the project.
  4. Prepare monthly and quarterly financial report under appropriate activities.
  5. Get all payment approved and prepare vouchers compiling supporting documents for auditing,
  6. Prepare advance request, travel authorization and settlement.
  7. Comply with local tax laws.
  8. Analyze business operations, trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations, to project future revenues and expenses or to provide advice.
  9. Keep track of Advance payment and clearances.
  10. Facilitate in procurement, staff movements and employee database maintenance.
  11. Establish tables of accounts, and assign entries to proper accounts.
  12. Maintain, and analyze budgets, preparing periodic reports that compare budgeted costs to actual costs.
  13. Prepare Monthly Account reconciliations and Quarterly report electronically.
  14. Assist in procurement and developing internal control system.
  15. Maintain keeping inventories of fixed and consumables and physical count.
  16. Assist Education Program Manager, District team and finance team-central in budgeting and cash flow projection of field office.
  17. Monitor project site for internal audit, maintenance of proper books of accounts.
  18. Perform other duties as instructed by Supervisors.

Qualification and Skills:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Commerce or Management or related field.
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in a similar position in I/NGO.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Nepali.
  • Sound knowledge of accounting software like FAMAS/TALLY or similar would be an added advantage.
  • Proficiency in MS Office especially in Excel.
  • Ability to work in multi-cultural and multi-dimensional team.
  • Sound financial management skills, attention to details and mathematical proficiency.
