Saathi, an apolitical and non-governmental organization, has long been crusading against gender-based violence in Nepal. It has been working for the safety, security and empowerment of violence survivor women and girls since its establishment in 1992. As an organization committed to the elimination of all forms of violence meted about against women and girls in the country, it focuses on tackling trafficking, unsafe migration, child marriage, domestic violence and sexual and gender-based violence. The organization is also running the interventions in addressing internal trafficking of the young children and girls, specially in the adult entertainment sector. Saathi is now going to implement Supporting Children, Adolescents and Youth At Risk Of And Survivors Of Exploitation. In Nepal (UTTHAN)” under the auspices of The World Education Inc (WEI). The project aims to reach out and provide protection services, including psychosocial counselling and training for the children trafficked internally and children in exploitative child labor such as in the adult entertainment sector. The project will build the capacity of the children at risk and survivors providing them with educational, life skills or vocational trainings. Therefore, Saathi invites application from interested and able candidates for the following posts for the project mentioned above

Program Officer/Entrepreneurship

Duration: 9 months (Fixed Term)
Report to: Executive Director

Primary Roles and responsibilities but not limited to:

  • Responsible for coordination, communication, planning, implementing, monitoring, and reporting of the project activities
  • Provide necessary support and guidance to junior staffs in planning and executing the project activities to ensure safety, security and empowerment of the girls internally trafficked
  • Serve as the focal point of contact for the project
  • Liaise and coordinate with concerned stakeholders, including government and other development partners working in the project area.
  • Coordinate and communicate on all matters pertaining to the smooth implementation of the project
  • Prepare donor and organization reports, and case studies related to project
  • Ensure that all the activities of the project are being performed as planned, and in accordance with contractual document
  • Undertake any other assignments as delegated by the supervision
  • Supervise and support junior project staffs and monitor their performance
  • Ensure that activities of team members are in line with spirit and objectives of Saathi and the project

Qualifications

  • Advanced university degree in social science/ development studies / management
  • At least 3 years’ experience in NGO in similar post
  • Experience in and demonstrated understanding of the GBV and VAW&C issues
  • Sound knowledge on issues of internal trafficking and girl’s exploitation on adult entertainment sector
  • Knowledge/ experience of operationalizing Drop-In-Center (DIC) for the trafficking survivor and vulnerable women, girls and children
  • Knowledge on government’s anti-trafficking and labor policy to safeguard children from exploitative labor activities.
  • Knowledge on Child-Centric Corporate responsibility perspective
  • Prior experience of working with Small and medium sized enterprises for the empowerment of women and girls faced with violence
  • In-depth knowledge of case management process
  • Computer proficient ( Ms word , excel , PowerPoint )
