Summary

We are currently seeking a Senior Technical Specialist, Inclusive Early Learning for the USAID-funded Equity and Inclusion in Education Program in Nepal. The project aims to support the Government of Nepal in reducing out of school children and improving learning outcomes for marginalized students. To achieve this, USAID seeks to support efforts to provide targeted support to municipalities to implement evidence based interventions that are driven by the local context in agreed upon provinces of either Province 2, Sudurpaschim, and/or Karnali.

This position is contingent upon donor approval and funding.

What You’ll Be Doing (Essential Duties)

  • Serve as focal point for Save the Children International, coordination with the government, implementing partners and USAID.
  • Ensure timely and high-quality submission of project deliverables, including work plans, quarterly and annual reports, and other reports or documentation required by USAID.
  • Oversee and provide technical support to implementing partners and develop/adapt technical resources and training materials as needed.
  • Use evidence to drive program improvement by conducting studies to build the knowledge and evidence base around equitable and inclusive early learning and basic education.
  • Facilitate learning exchanges to foster a culture of innovation, collaboration and quality improvement across the project.
  • Serve as a strategic resource for Save the Children Nepal to strengthen key national and provincial partnerships, disseminate innovative programs and influence provincial and national strategies.
  • Represent Save the Children in networking events to strengthen key partnerships with other actors.

Required Qualifications

  • Commitment to child rights, gender equality and social inclusion
  • Masters in International Development, Inclusive/Special ECCD or Education with 7 years of experience in development sector;
  • Minimum of 5+ years proven experience working on education activities in Nepal;
  • Prior experience working in any of the following area(s) of inclusive ECCD, inclusive education, systems strengthening, use of digital/contactless education solutions, multi-sectoral programming in education.
  • Understanding of the barriers to education for disadvantaged groups, particularly in Nepal.
  • Experience managing a diverse team with strong interpersonal skills
  • Proven experience working collaboratively with partners and building capacity of government bodies and local NGOs; and
  • Fluent oral and strong analytical, written English communications skills is required.

Preferred qualifications:

  • USAID-funded program experience
  • Knowledge of local languages of the proposed impact areas
