JOB OPPORTUNITY

Social Service Centre (SOSEC) Nepal is working by giving high priority and sensitivity on the right of women and children under the principle of integrated development approach to obtain right of women, children, raute community and backwarded communities in Dailekh, Kalikot and Surkhet districts of Karnali Province and Achham district of Sudurpaschim Province of Nepal with the coordination and collaboration with different development partner organizations. The organization is also adopting zero tolerance policy on violence against women & children and corruption.
SOSEC has been implementing two different technical programmes in Dailekh; 1) Protection and Community Engagement Sponsorship (PCESP), an2) Inclusive Quality Education (IQE) partnering with World Vision International Nepal. For this, we seek application from competent and self-motivated Nepali citizen for the following different positions. The position is based in Dailekh (Bhagwatimai Rural Municipality).

Designation: Field Mobilizer -Protection (With in District Only)

Number of Position: One (1)
SPECIFIC ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF FIELD MOBILIZER-PROTECTION

  • Facilitate and Support in the formation of Local level child rights committee in target area mostly in the municipal level
  • Facilitate in the participation and selection of teachers, parents. Life skills group, Child Clubs from the most vulnerable area to make them participate in the projects
  • Support providing local information as required to the Field Officer and MEAL Coordinator to update database on the local child rights committee and other groups
  • Monitor and provide feedback to the young leaders/peer educators on the implementation of life skills sessions.
  • Support municipal/Ward level Child Rights Committee, child monitoring committees to organize meeting and be part of it.
  • Organize the local ward level meetings and events in coordination with the government and community groups
  • Meet Peer educators to support them in mentoring on keeping the journal of the life skills sessions.
  • Regular visit to the communities to aware about the child protection system and the ways top access it and importance of accessing the services
  • Participate in the ward/municipal level meetings organized by the local government and advocate on the issues that protection project is highlighting
  • Mobilize the Peer educators to track the progress of the adolescents participating in the life skills group
  • Mobilize local stakeholders like child clubs, parents, teachers, and political leaders to make local level decision in protection of children and ensuring child rights
  • Report the child protection incidents happening in the community to the formal system
  • Support Registered Children monitoring and their participation in the project activities including local level government plans
  • Regular meeting with parents and children in the communities to discuss the child protection issues and the importance of reporting the cases
  • Report the CP cases to NGO – Safeguarding Focal Point if there are any cases of Registered Children timely and also raise awareness in the community about safeguarding measures and compliances
  • Compile the Life skills information and keep it updated
  • Refer the vulnerable children and families to the existing social protection services or to other projects supported by WVIN or other NGOs
  • Support in the implementation of CFLG activities under the CP &CESP programme
  • Support in the Community consultation, MVC identification for RC selection
  • Support in the integrated child sponsorship and programme orientation at the local level
  • Support in SIP Reflection/PQSRT/Annual Community Review and Planning to manage the logistics and participants
  • Support community engagement activities including the collection of information on impact stories

ACADEMIC QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • intermediate in relevant discipline with at least 2 years experiences on child protection projects in similar capacity or having strong social mobilization skills
  • Good understanding of Gender and social Inclusion specifically about child right, child right governance and Education
  • Good understanding/knowledge of the local context and sensitivities.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English essential
  • Analytical skills.
  • Good communication skills, written and oral.

SECTOR KNOWLEDGE/COMPETENCY:

  • Knowledge on empowerment approaches and able to mobilize
  • Basic Knowledge on child protection system and protection of children
  • Basic Knowledge on life skills approach
  • Basic understanding on community system strengthening to protect children in the community
