SOS Children’s Villages Nepal as a non-governmental social development organisation support children without parental care and families in difficult living conditions through services in care, education, health and emergency relief. We are now looking for interested and qualified individuals for the various positions at National Office and various programme locations.

Job Positions:

1. Communication Manager (1): National Office, Sanothimi with frequent location visits

The Communication Officer is responsible for supporting the communication needs and strengthen the internal and external communication for ongoing programmes of SOS Children’s Villages Nepal. This includes the production of all digital and print-based programme briefs, drafting of press releases and other external communications capacities including emergency communication and media handling, planning events, and maintaining adherence to branding guidelines. S/he ensures that promotional and communication products and platforms are consistent with SOS brand standards and should maintain network with communication practitioners in Nepal.

Key Performance Areas and Main Responsibilities:

  • Acts as a contact point in close cooperation with programme locations with the aim to coordinate and facilitate easy and speedy flow of communication activities.
  • Ensures communication consistency with the SOS Children’s Villages International’s overall strategy, relevant policies, brand strategy.
  • Supports in dealing with crisis communication management and pre-emptive planning this includes understanding the importance of timing and setting regarding responding to crisis communication and setbacks.
  • Produces high quality communication materials including webpage updates, blogs, social media, reports, brochures, multi-media presentations, drafts and issue press releases for internal as well as external audiences.
    This required planning, designing, developing and disseminating print products and audio-visuals of the SOS Children’s Villages Nepal materials to promote its programme activities.
  • Maintains the quality of the documents through effective editing and proofreading; reporting and printing materials in both English and Nepali.
  • Develops and maintains close collaboration with journalists and media professionals in Nepal.
  • Monitors and analyses media coverage, distributing news to the media this includes organizing and supporting press conference, media events or other special events.
  • Prepares contextual materials, arranges appointments and accompanies the visits of external guests particularly from Promoting and Supporting Associations.
  • Provides support to programme location teams in understanding reporting requirements and formats; follow up with programme location teams to meet reporting deadlines.

Qualification, Experience and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism or communications discipline with minimum 5 years of relevant work experience or Master’s degree in Journalism and communications discipline with minimum 3 years of relevant work experience in communication, print and broadcast media, interactive digital media or communications and press departments, (preference will be given to the candidates who have relevant working experience in the development sectors).
  • Sound knowledge of communication strategies, and information technology that includes in depth knowledge of crisis communication management for developing communication strategy, handling media inquiries, and preparing press statements.
  • Excellent communication skills in English & Nepali and proficiency in computer applications and well versed in latest electronic publishing methods (e.g. adobe packages.)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and positive attitude.
  • Experience of working with children and young people will be an added advantage.

2. Institutional Partnership Development Coordinator (1): National Office

The Institutional Partnership Development Coordinator is responsible for identifing the institutions/ organisations/ agencies for funding and working as SOS Children’s Villages Nepal partners to implement specified programs. S/he should work for in developing fund development strategy for SOS Children’s Villages Nepal. S/he takes a leading role to raises resources from Individual and Corporate donors as per the agreed targets.

Key Performance Areas and Main Responsibilities:

Partnership Development and Networking

  • Scopes institutional donors, establishes and maintains regular contact with prospective donors by organizing donor roundtables, face to face meetings, attending donor forums etc
  • Develops partnerships and consortiums with other like-minded organizations for purposes of bidding for large donor projects.
  • Represents SOS CV Nepal in sector level meetings (development and humanitarian/emergency) and other networking forums and use this to develop funding partnerships
  • Participates in regional IPD networking and training forums.

Fundraising and Donor Relationship Management

  • Identifies institutional partnership opportunities at the national local level (from bilateral, multilateral, international organizations, embassies, trusts and foundations)
  • Coordinates with the programme team to conduct assessments, feasibility studies, project formulation workshops that inform programme design.
  • Coordinates and writes concept notes/project proposals/budgets and be the link between programme, finance and submit this to potential institutional donors.
  • Conducts project monitoring visits.
  • Develops and maintains good relationships with donors by ensuring regular communication, knowledge exchange, effective and timely reporting.
  • Prepares and submits IPD monthly updates and quarterly reports to the national and regional offices.

Donor Contract Management

  • Responsible for Donor Contract Management (DCM) of institutional grants, including contract preparation, development of consortium agreements, teaming agreements, record maintenance (electronic and paper), compliance with donor requirements, submission of reports.
  • Establishes a close working relationship with the Finance Department and provide advice to ensure synergy in donor budgeting, contract management and reporting.

Qualification, Experience and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in development/social sciences (Sociology, Development studies, International Relations or related field). A Master’s degree will be an added advantage.
  • A thorough understanding of program design and development especially in the sectors of Child Rights, Child Protection, Education, Livelihoods, Gender etc.
  • 5-10 years of extensive experience in planning, securing and managing funds from institutional donors as well as a thorough understanding of development programming.
  • Excellent skills in proposal and report writing
  • Excellent interpersonal, networking and communication skills with the ability to represent SOS CV in donor forums, develop partnerships with other NGOs
  • Competences in Project Cycle Management and the use of Logical Framework Approach (LFA)
  • Ability to work under pressure and to plan and work systematically towards deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal English skills.

3. Monitoring and Evaluation Officer (1) : SOS Children’s Village Gandaki

The Monitoring and Evaluation Officer is responsible to support the development programmes of SOS CV Nepal within the programme location. S/he takes a leading role in managing the monitoring and evaluation (M&E) systems and tracking monitoring indicators. S/he supports the implementation of self-evaluations for working with target groups under the supervision of Location Leader.

Key Performance Areas and Main Responsibilities:

  • Supports the Location Leader in developing Results Framework, needs assessment, baseline study and implementation of monitoring and evaluation system.
  • Writes concept note with input from stakeholders, shares current baselines and supports in setting realistic targets.
  • Responsible for preparation and review of progress reports.
  • Supports the Location Leader to organize Review and Planning Meetings by engaging stakeholders in learning & sharing process, promote, and explore ways to use results to improve quality of programs.
  • Manages research activities and ensures outcomes and lessons learned are integrated into the project and shared with relevant stakeholders
  • Regularly reviews & analyzes Program Data Base (PDB) to improve data quality
  • Supports external evaluators & provides monitoring data for Impact Assessment study and supports stakeholders in the implementation of recommendations.

Qualification, Experience and Skills:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Social Science, Public Health, Development Studies, or related subjects with at least one year of relevant work experience.
  • Knowledge and work experience in the development of Result Framework, reviewing and analysing the data to improve the data quality, conducting Need Assessment of projects, writing project concept notes and preparing periodic progress reports.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and positive attitude.
  • Experience of working with children and young people will be an added advantage.
  • (Preference will be given to candidates having two – wheeler license).

4. Counselor (1): SOS Youth Care Dhangadhi

The Counselor will be responsible for supporting in the social, moral, emotional and intellectual development of children and young people and guiding them by assessing the special educational requirements of an individual child and youth. S/he should have good understanding of professional counseling approaches and strong skills on organizing and facilitating training/workshops. S/he should manage documents, maintain the database, and prepare the activity for children and young people, and reporting the events.

Key Performance Areas and Main Responsibilities:

  • Provides guidance in overall development of young people this includes support young people through proper counseling and helps them to overcome their weaknesses and resolves the problems with their peer group and others.
  • Assesses the special educational requirement of individual youth and making arrangements for support this includes maintains regular contact with teachers to follow-up the academic progress and timely monitoring of the youth’s academic performance.
  • Organizes classes on enhancing self-esteem, on awareness in mental health through different extra curriculum activities like debate, theater and other activities.

Qualification, Experience and Skills:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology or Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline with one-year Post Graduate Diploma in Psychological Counseling and three years’ relevant work experience or, Master’s Degree in Psychology or Master’s Degree in any discipline with one-year Post Graduate Diploma in Psychological Counseling and one-year relevant work experience.
  • Excellent communication skills in English & Nepali and proficiency in computer applications.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and positive attitude.
  • Experience of working with children and young people will be an added advantage.
  • (Preference will be given to candidates having two – wheeler license).

5. Incident Coordinator (1) on Contract Basis: National Office, SOS Children’s Villages Nepal

The Incident Coordinator will be responsible to support the National Child safeguarding Focal person for strengthening the reporting and responding systems and processes in SOS Children’s Villages Nepal. S/he will contribute to ongoing efforts to ensure that children who are directly and indirectly cared for and supported through SOS Children’s Villages Programmes are safe and protected.

Key Performance Areas and Main Responsibilities:

  • Maintains accurate records and child safeguarding cases.
  • Maintains the data collation and documentation plan, and produces monthly progress report.
  • Supports to National Child Safeguarding Focal Person to deal with child safeguarding issues and other incidents abuse incidents.
  • Follows up the progress of all investigations and providing supporting plans for victims/survivors (if any).

Qualification, Experience, and Skills:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology or Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline with and one-year of relevant work experience in Child Safeguarding and Incident Management.
  • Candidates should have a good command of English and Nepali languages (both written and speaking).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Package, email, and the internet is a must
  • Experience of working with children and young people will be an added advantage.
  • Candidates are expected to have excellent interpersonal skills and a positive attitude.
