The Gurkha Welfare Trust Nepal (GWT (N)) invites applications from suitably qualified and interested applicants from within the organisation for the position of Biomedical Equipment Technician based in HQ, Pokhara.

Position: Biomedical Equipment Technician

Job Location: Pokhara

Competencies/Skills:

• Must be able to effectively communicate technical information by telephone, in writing and in person • Must be familiar with medical components and systems and how they interact and be able to disassemble and reassemble major parts for repair.
• Must possess technical skills to use sophisticated diagnostic tools when working on complex medical equipment
• Should possess time management skills
• Computer literate (Excel, Word, as a minimum)
• Should be physically fit

Eligibility, Required Qualification and Experience:

• Diploma in Biomedical Equipment Engineering (CTEVT) – preferred or Degree in Engineering related field with at least 2 years proven experience in Biomedical Equipment field.
• At least 6 months Hospital or Community experience of equipment repair and maintenance work in a medical facility or If no BMEE Diploma but related degree then at least 2 years experience with biomedical equipment maintenance and repair in hospital facilities

Job Responsibilities:

The Biomedical Equipment Technician will be responsible to provide technical knowledge and direct support to ensure that all GWT medical equipment and devices are tested, repaired and maintained as required to operate safely and effectively. Equipment includes electronic equipment and various types of medical equipment. The BMET is not required to do all the maintenance and repair work directly, but will support Welfare Centres and Medical Operational Manager to ensure that appropriate arrangements are in place. She/he will do some of the work directly, and will be interacting with any contractors engaged for this work and assist operation manager in monitoring the quality of their work.

Remunerations:

The position falls in EG3-00 of our pay structure and will receive a basic monthly salary of NPR. 58,571. All other benefits and facilities will be provided as per GWT(N) Regulations. The job is offered for 3 years initially and may be extended on the basis of need and performance.
