POSITION: Computer Management Assistant- FSNPSC-9

WORK HOURS: Full-time; 40 hours/week

BASIC FUNCTION OF THE POSITION:
The Computer Management Assistant provides USAID/NEPAL Information Technology systems and application support to users. Application support incorporates the use and refinement of hardware, software and user expertise in Mission Standard Applications. The incumbent will work with other IT staff in furthering USAID/NEPAL Intranet website development and coordination. S/he works under the supervision of the Computer Management Specialist at all times and if needed takes charge of the computer center operations during the absence of the Computer Management Specialist. S/he performs systems development and maintenance of applications related to the operations of USAID/Nepal.
S/he will be responsible for maintaining the Mission’s LAN hardware for approximately 100 plus users, 120 workstations, modems, routers, switches, scanners, printers, and various other peripherals of computer equipment.
The incumbent will be responsible for setup and support of iPhones. The incumbent will be the primary person for the Inventory of IT devices.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: A Bachelor’s degree in the field of Computer Science is required.
Prior Work Experience: Five years of responsible experience with exposure to complex computer operations in a LAN/WAN environment is required.
Language Proficiency: Level IV (Fluent) Speaking/Reading/Writing English is required.
Job Knowledge: Advanced knowledge on latest IT technologies and telecommunications equipment.
Expertise in the use and application of standard off the shelf software packages and operating systems
e.g., Windows workstations and Windows Server OS is essential.
Knowledge on configuration and support knowledge on iPhones.
Concepts of systems analysis and design, network management, operations are required.
Skills and Abilities: Analytical skills in the application of IT tools and resources to resolve problems are required.
- Knowledge on basic programming and script writing is required.
- Strong Technical Skills and knowledge of Databases is required.
- Expertise on Network Access Switches, Router and other network and system monitoring tools is
required. - The ability to work well under pressure, attention to details, teamwork and time management skills are required. Strong interpersonal skills in dealing with internal and external customers and users and user problems are essential.
