DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION / REQUIREMENTS:

Project Coordinator – Climate Change Adaptation and Disaster Risk Reduction

Location: Kathmandu, Nepal

Salary: As per organization rule

Contract type: Fixed Term

Full Time:35 hours per week

Role overview

Provide technical guidance on capacity building and influencing interventions of Climate Change Adaptation and Disaster Risk Reduction targeting youth led civil society organizations. S/he will be supporting the Consortium Project Manager on donor reporting, monitoring and partnership management, as required.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

Essential criteria (must have to be able to carry out the role successfully)

Knowledge/qualifications:

  • Minimum Bachelors degree (preference will be given to environment science with focus on climate change and disaster management) Master’s degree preferred.

Experience:

  •  Programme Management: At least 3 years’ Experience of program management on CCA and DRR.

Skills/Abilities:

  • Advocacy and influencing: Previous skill of influencing policies, environmental, CCA and DRR policy influencing experience will be preferred. Ability to provide technical assistance to youth led CSOs in developing advocacy strategic plan and mentoring for the implementation of advocacy and campaign events. Support in developing linkage building and lobbying with influential stakeholders.
  • Capacity Development: Able to coordinate capacity building of youth led CSOs in the areas of CCA, DRR and advocacy.
  •  Alliance Building: Ability to build effective working relationships within project teams, consortium partners, inspiring confidence and credibility. Ability to work effectively across the local government, as per changing federal context including other national and global forum to utilize the available networks, capable to strengthen relationship with local government authorities and expertise for the effective implementation of project.
  • Communication and Documentation: Excellent written communication skills required for progress, process and learning documentation. Ability to edit content provided by partner organizations.
  • Travel requirement: Able to travel in project areas in country and internationally occasionally and spend time away from work- base location and home.

Skills/Abilities:

  • Time management skills: prioritization skills, decision making skills, focus of the program, coping skills etc.
  • Analysis and creative problem-solving: Ability to analyse and quickly grasp the fundamentals of a need or issue. Able to find innovative ways of solving cross cutting problems.
  • People Management: Previous experience of managing people of different partner organizations.
  • Financial Monitoring: Experience of supporting in budget management.

Information Technology – Good level of computer skills (Windows, Excel, Power Point, Word, Outlook, Internet).

Travel requirement: Able to travel in country and internationally occasionally and spend time away from work- base location and home.
