Job Vacancy Announcement for Project Officer

The project will implement SBCC (Social Behavior Change and Communication) AND NSL (Nutrition-Sensitive Literacy) COMPONENT OF NATIONAL SCHOOL MEALS PROGRAMME IN NUWAKOT DISTRICT in agreement with WFP Nepal, which will target 453 public schools and communities in all 12 Palika in the District for three years starting in May 2020.

Position: Project Officer

Reports to: Project Coordinator (SVA Staff based in Kathmandu)

Duty Station: Nuwakot (with frequent to Head Office)

Duration: 21,June 2020 to 31, Dec 2020 with possibility to extend

Salary and benefits: As per the organization policy.

General requirement:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Education, Social Science, Development studies or any other relevant field. (Essential)
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in project coordination in education and/or community development sector. (Essential)

Position Description:

Under the direct supervision of Project Coordinator, this position will be leading the project team and coordinate project activities in district level (Nuwakot).

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Coordinate to implement planned activities, training and meeting in coordination with district-level stakeholders.
  2. Monitor the implementation and ensure quality of activities.
  3. Supervise and guide social mobilizers based in Nuwakot.
  4. Arrange and manage necessary logistics.
  5. Visits field so as to collect photographs and verified data for the report.
  6.  Prepare narrative monthly progress report for submission to Project Coordinator.
  7. Liaise with and report to Project Coordinator
  8. Ensure the government legal compliance as per the District level policies.
  9. Other responsibilities as assigned by Project Coordinator of SVA.
  10. Supervise and monitor the field program and provide constructive feedbacks to field team.
  11. Provide support to the evaluation and monitoring team.
  12. Prepare monthly/ quarterly/ semiannual/ annual reports of the programs on time. Collect and document important case studies/ stories
  13. Ensure close monitoring of activities and performing field visits in order to assess the implementation of Earthquake Response activities.
  14. Support/ conduct/ organize various district and community level activities, trainings, workshops and other required activities
  15. Conduct staff meeting and monitor, mentor and supervise program staffs.
  16. Complete and implement procurement process and policies of organization.
  17. Ensure the effective use of the fund in district and maintain the transparency and accountability.
  18. Work with SVA Nepal office staff with being supervised by SVA Program Manager.

  1. Project coordination with social mobilization skill
  2. Monitoring and report writing skills
  3. Strong leadership and effective communication skill
  4. Ability to work with and coordinate different stakeholders such as government officials, teachers, communities and donors.
  5. Training and facilitation skill
  6. Ability to work independently and as a team
  7. Computer skills
  8. Fluency in written and spoken English & Nepali
  9. Valid driving license
  10. Previous work experience in an NGO environment.
  11. Excellent activity planning, prioritization and implementation skills and commitment to deliver against agreed deadlines
  12. Ability to work in demanding situations under pressure in a team independently with minimum supervision and deliver against team objectives
  13. Excellent communication, interpersonal, influencing and persuasive skills
  14. Gender awareness, gender sensitivity
