Contract Duration: Up to July 15, 2027, with potential for extension based on performance, funding availability, and project needs.
Position Overview
The Finance Officer will be responsible for overseeing all financial operations, budget tracking, and ensuring strict compliance with donor requirements. The ideal candidate will bring robust expertise in financial reporting, bookkeeping, and statutory compliance, with a strong preference for hands-on experience managing Global Fund-supported projects within the non-governmental organization (NGO) sector.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
1. Financial Management & Accounting
Process payments, maintain accurate financial ledgers, and prepare monthly staff payroll in a timely manner.
Ensure all applicable taxes and statutory deductions are accurately calculated, deposited, and reported within regulatory deadlines.
Coordinate with all seven district teams to manage advances, travel allowances, and activity-related payments efficiently.
2. Budget Management & Cost Tracking
Maintain project budgets and financial records in strict adherence to JANTRA/UNDP guidelines and organizational policies.
Track budget utilization to ensure the project remains on target and identify potential under-spending or over-spending early to facilitate timely corrective action.
3. Donor Compliance & Reporting
Prepare financial reports in accordance with the organization’s guidelines and donor requirements.
Maintain organized physical and digital files of all receipts, contracts, and donor-related documentation to ensure accessibility and audit-readiness at all times.
Support and facilitate donor financial audits as per organizational policies and procedures.
Key Working Relationships
Direct Supervisor
Finance Coordinator and Project Manager
Internal Collaborators: District Focal Persons, M&E Manager, Team Lead, and district-level project teams.
External Collaborators
Donor representatives, auditors, government agencies, and vendors.
Qualifications & Experience
Education
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Management, Finance, Accounting, Business Studies, or a related field.
A Master’s degree in a relevant discipline is highly preferred.
Experience
At least two years of relevant professional experience as a Finance Officer, preferably within the non-governmental organization (NGO) sector.
Desired Skills & Competencies
Strong knowledge of financial management principles, donor compliance, and statutory requirements.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively under tight deadlines.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Tally, True Book, or similar) and other relevant computer applications (e.g., MS Excel, financial reporting tools).
Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy and transparency in all financial transactions.
Demonstrated ability to respect individuals of all gender, race, and ethnicities and work effectively in diverse community settings.
