Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Practice Accountant with UK accounting experience to join our team. This role is suited for a professional with 2-4 years of experience in a UK-based accounting firm, possessing a strong understanding of UK GAAP, financial reporting standards (FRS 102, FRS 102 1A, and FRS 105), and VAT compliance.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing a portfolio of UK clients, preparing statutory accounts, and ensuring compliance with UK tax regulations. This position requires a combination of technical expertise, leadership abilities, and strong interpersonal skills, as you will be expected to collaborate with clients, support junior staff, and contribute to the overall efficiency of the firm.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review statutory accounts in accordance with FRS 102, FRS 102 1A, and FRS 105
  • Draft and file UK VAT returns, including handling partial exemptions and MTD compliance
  • Manage multiple client accounts, ensuring timely and accurate submission of accounts, VAT, and tax returns
  • Perform bookkeeping and reconciliations using Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, IRIS, VT, and FreeAgent
  • Supervise and mentor junior accountants, ensuring adherence to best practices and quality standards
  • Stay up to date with UK financial regulations, tax laws, and industry developments to ensure compliance

Candidate Requirements

  • CA/ACCA Affiliate or Member (mandatory)
  • 2-4 years of experience in a UK-based accounting firm
  • Strong technical knowledge of UK GAAP and FRS 102, FRS 102 1A, and FRS 105
  • Proficiency in accounting software, including Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, IRIS, VT, and FreeAgent
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work efficiently under pressure
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships with clients and colleagues through professionalism and clear communication
  • Strong teamwork and leadership skills, with the ability to mentor and support junior team members
