1. Background

National Society for Earthquake Technology – Nepal (NSET) is nonprofit non-governmental organization working for Mult hazard risk management sector. It implements and supports various programs and projects related to disaster risk reduction, earthquake safety, resilient construction, humanitarian response, community resilience, and other related areas.

NSET requires dedicated support for monitoring, evaluation, accountability, learning, documentation, reporting, and communication across its different projects and programs. The MEAL Officer will provide organization-wide MEAL support and will be assigned to different projects and activities according to NSET’s requirements.

2. Purpose of the Position

The MEAL Officer will support NSET in strengthening its Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) systems across projects and programs. The position will also support project documentation, reporting, communication, and graphic/design-related requirements as assigned.

3. Key Responsibilities

Develop and implement MEAL/monitoring plans, log frames, indicators, assessment tools, trackers, and reporting formats in line with project requirements.

Monitor project progress, targets, activities, quality, outputs, outcomes, and timelines through regular follow-up and field visits.

Verify project activities, results, beneficiary information, and supporting documentation to ensure data quality and compliance.

Familiarity with data collection and management tools such as KoboToolbox, ODK, Google Forms, Excel, and other digital platforms.

Support baseline, endline, PDM, needs assessments, evaluations, and other project assessments.

Collect, compile, analyze, and present quantitative and qualitative data and provide evidence-based findings for project decision-making.

Establish and manage beneficiary feedback and complaint-response mechanisms.

Record, monitor, and follow up on feedback and complaints to strengthen accountability and responsiveness.

Promote accountability, safeguarding, confidentiality, inclusion, and appropriate MEAL standards across projects.

Document lessons learned, good practices, challenges, outcomes, and success stories.

Support project review, reflection, learning, and coordination meetings and follow up on agreed actions.

Prepare case studies, learning materials, reports, and other project documentation.

Prepare tables, charts, dashboards, presentations, and progress summaries for project monitoring and reporting.

Support project, organizational, and donor reporting by providing accurate, timely, and verified information.

Maintain organized MEAL records, databases, evidence, monitoring documents, and digital archives.

Prepare posters, brochures, factsheets, presentations, infographics, reports, banners, and social media materials using Canva and other appropriate design tools.

Provide MEAL, documentation, communication, and visibility support to NSET projects as assigned.

Perform other MEAL, documentation, communication, and project-related duties assigned by NSET management.

4. Required Qualifications and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Development Studies, Social Sciences, Statistics, Management, Information Management, or a relevant discipline. Master’s degree will be an advantage.

At least 2 years of relevant experience in MEAL, monitoring and evaluation, project documentation, data analysis, or related work.

Experience with NGO/INGO or development projects is preferred.

Good knowledge of MS Office.

Experience in data visualization and reporting is preferred.

Knowledge of graphic design tools such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, or equivalent is an advantage.

Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Nepali.

Willingness and ability to travel to project locations.
