Shankar Associates, Chartered Accountants (SACA) is looking for a dynamic and skilled Client Accountant-Mid Level to join our dynamic team in our Nepal-based Audit, Tax and Consulting wing. We are an audit, tax, and consulting firm affiliated with one of the Top 20 Accounting Alliances, based in Kathmandu, Nepal.

The Client Accountant will be responsible for managing the day-to-day accounting, taxation, reconciliation, import-related transactions, and financial reporting activities for trading business clients. The role requires strong technical accounting knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to ensure compliance with applicable tax and regulatory requirements while maintaining accurate financial records.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting & Financial Management

  • Maintain accurate and timely accounting records for assigned trading business clients.
  • Record and reconcile all financial transactions in the accounting system.
  • Ensure proper accounting for the treatment of imports, inventory purchases, and related expenses.
  • Prepare periodic financial reports and management of information as required.

Taxation & Compliance

  • Prepare and file VAT returns, TDS returns, and other applicable tax filings within statutory deadlines.
  • Handle government tax compliance requirements and coordinate with relevant authorities when necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with prevailing tax laws, regulations, and reporting obligations.

Import & Foreign Trade Accounting

  • Manage accounting and documentation related to import purchases.
  • Handle accounting for TT (Telegraphic Transfer) and LC (Letter of Credit) transactions.
  • Monitor and record foreign exchange gain/loss arising from import and foreign currency transactions.
  • Coordinate with banks and suppliers regarding import-related financial matters.

Reconciliation & Controls

  • Perform vendor and supplier account reconciliations on a regular basis.
  • Conduct invoice and payment reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Prepare and review bank reconciliations and investigate any discrepancies.
  • Ensure proper documentation and maintenance of supporting financial records.

Data Management & Reporting

  • Utilize Microsoft Excel effectively for data analysis, reconciliation, and reporting.
  • Prepare schedules, financial summaries, and ad hoc reports as required by clients and management.
  • Maintain accuracy and integrity of accounting data across systems and records.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, Management, or related field.
  • Professional qualifications or ongoing professional studies (CA, ACCA, CPA, or equivalent) will be an advantage.
  • Minimum 2+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a trading business environment.

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Practical experience in VAT, TDS, and tax filing procedures.
  • Understanding of import accounting, TT, and LC transactions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data handling.
  • Experience using accounting software and ERP systems.
