Role overview

Provide financial support to program team and partner NGOs for specific project/s, manage and maintain grant financial management activities in order to ensure an efficient, secure and controlled financial environment in compliance with VSO policies and procedures, donor requirements and local regulations.

Skills, qualifications and experience

Essential:

Qualification

  • Qualified Accountant (ACCA, ACA, CA or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or bachelor’s degree in Accountancy with strong project and partners management experience.
  • Skilled financial accountant with knowledge of financial management of restricted donor funding, reporting, procurement procedures, donor rules and regulations for non-profit organizations.

Experience

  • Line Management – experience of managing partner staff with the ability to develop and build capacity building plans and coach.
  • Strong leadership experience in budget management for partner including project budget. Knowledge of Internal, External and
  • Project Audit. Strong attention to detail
  • Financial Business Partnering – Service oriented, customer focused approach. Experience of working in and understanding a global organization, using knowledge to analyses and interpret financial information to support program and partners
  • Communication Skills – Good verbal and oral communication skills in English and local languages. Able to effectively communicate technical financial information to a wide range of audiences and experience of remote and cross-cultural communication, demonstrating sensitivity to cultural and language differences.

Financial and Risk Management – Sound knowledge of financial and risk management skills

Information Technology – Good level of computer skills (Windows, Power Point, Word, Outlook, and Internet), with advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, use of accounting software and reporting packages – SUN preferred.

Travel requirement: Able to travel in country and internationally occasionally and spend time away from work- base location and home.
